MAYTAG STUFF
The MT gas dryer is the old style dryer with the big drum and electric gas ignition. The mercury switches that were used on the AMP style machines have been NLA for many years. But unless the glass bulb is broken they are easy to repair. The only thing that ever went wrong with these switches was the wires. The insulation would get stiff and break and keep the switch from moving smoothly. Luckily the wires are easy to replace just carefully break the crumbling insulation off the end where the wires are attached and you can see they are just soldered on the terminals. Then solder new wires on, use wire that is very flexible and then coat the soldered ends with silicone type sealant to seal the connections as a lot of steam gets inside the lid when washing in hot water.
