Youguys have got to visit the RE-STORES by habitat for humanity in your area....lots of stuff to find and use ...very cheap...they will haggle...BIG TIME...can't tell you what I have gotten from these places...there's one in almost every county...in New Jersey I visit four in my surrounding areas...take a truck...you will need it...I got appliances for 20.00...in good working order...and many other items.... some locations have bigger warehouses than others, but unbelievable what you will find...Go to their web site and look for RE-STORE locations near you...call first to get their hours...most closed sun and mon...

It's for a great cause....

The Re-Stores are great. I need to go to ours and look for some paint and doors for the basement. The last time I was at mine, the only appliances they had were newer electric stoves and a newer electric dryer.

No real appliance treasures to be found at the one closest to me. But I still keep it on my list for building materials.

My nearest ReStore

I like it a lot, and get there when I can. It is only open Thursday-Sunday, however.

Last time I was there I got some glazed ceramic tiles to use as spoon rests for cooking. .25 each.

The appliance selection has been hit-or-miss, however. Mostly electric cooktops, the times I've been there.

Lawrence, a friend of mine makes trivets out of the glazed ceramic tiles. She glues cork to the bottom so the counter tops won't get scratched.

haggling must be by the individual owners....but all the ones i have been to will come down on price...a lot....they had a chandelier for $500.00 and I got it for $250.00....most everything i got marked down....maybe cause they see me a lot...but who knows...never hurts to try

Rich, I know. The adjacent SVDP is more likely to contain more items that would interest me.

Neat Appliances

Its the only place around here that sometimes has really neat stoves. They had a flawless GE constellation range around 1955.A really nice blue wall oven 1958 and stove top recently. The range was last year, but now they have a decent 1953 huge GE range for 50.00,just needs cleaning.Sometimes washer and dryers.Bobby

We don't have any stores like that here. wish we did. But my uncle from Alabama once worked side by side with former President Carter on a project as you know he is really active in Habitat. Actually passing nails and screws hand to hand with jimmy. at the end of the project, everyone got a wallhanger gold plated autographed hammer from jimmy Carter. What a privelage, wish I could have been there.I think Jimmy Carter has done more good after office than he did in office. just one mans point of veiw here. gotta love the man.

went there today...everything half price...and of course, didn't need but coudn't live another day without...maytag washer...large capacity...orbital drive...and a few options...7 day guarantee that it works...it does...needs a good scrub down...previous owners either had a dog or this was owned by "BEARS"...a lot of fur...I'll go with the manly BEAR...lol...like the bruiser who loaded it in my truck...tried to get him to come with me home to unload it...tried to bribe him with a pic-a-nic basket...but no deal...maybe a bear trap next time!

Paid only 25.00...cant beat it
