Had to have it........couldn't live another day without it!

probably from the Sanyo lineup, but really similar to the bigger GE.....kinda a MINI-ME of larger machines...a lot of options for a little portable, several cycles, temperatures, and load sizes....hot and cold valves for permanent hookup

got it at a thrift store for $30.00....not too bad....think I'll put it in the camper, small enought to fit in the bathroom

model WWP1150VAJWH serial AG102009J

GE COMPACT 21" WASHER

These are fun little washers, the one you have would be made between 1975 and 1979 around 1980 they went to a plastic wash tub the first ones even had porcelain outer tub but I think yours is new enough to have the plastic outer tub. This machine is actually made by Hitachi in Japan, the only major weak area was stuff getting caught in the drain pump and jamming it. Overall it did a good job washing items that are small enough for it to turn over, the spin speed of over 900 RPMs was very good. however it does use a lot of water for the amount of clothes it handles.

How does it wash clothes with out an agitator in the middle? Does the tub turn back and forth during wash to get clothes to turn over?

They will wash anything you can throw at it...generally speaking.

The small impeller in the bottom spins quickly one way and then the other creating a whirlpool effect for agitation...

Just watch the timer....that is certainly one of the weak points at this age...

Congratulations on your new toy!

Unlike the newer impeller machines, these spun the impeller longer in each direction giving things plenty of time to wrap around each other. If you are going to use it for clothing and have sensitive skin, you will want to set it for another rinse cycle after it completes the final spin. This machine would be a good companion to a GE combo because it spins well.

Very cool find!
I think these are so awesome.
I really like the little GE console!

BLUE IMPELLER!

This is the later model of the little Hotpoint that I have. I've been looking for a blue impeller model since I was a kid and we had this and the matching dryer in Harvest Gold. The 4 spoke moves more water than the 5 spoke disc on the originals, I don;t know if that's from a different gearing or the shape of the disc. The newer ones as mentioned also have the real GE console and 2 water inlets and are more flexible. This machine does have the plastic outer tub. My 74 model Hotpoint has the porcelain inner and outer tub. I need more pics and videos of this machine! E-mail if you get a chance.

This looks like the little GE washer I gave to Kevin at his wash in. That one only spun in the final spin portion and did fill and drains for the wash into rinses. I think I have video of it on my YouTube channel.

I have one of those GE portables. Have a few things soaking in it since last night to finish later this morn. They're fun, sounds similar to a Unimatic ramping up in spin. Has a long drain period, seems so the load can drip-drain for a while in lieu of a post-wash spin ... or perhaps to compensate for a small drain hose to reduce sink splashing. Perm Press has a "cool down" shower rinse. There're five {very short) sprays during the final spin on all cycles. The motor shuts off a few seconds before end of the cycle, I assume so the spin can coast-down a little to reduce the impact of braking at Off.

I had that same model back in '96. please if you're a youtube member post a video of it in action. The lid switch is hidden I believe in the right hinge of the lid, so I've been told.

Reply to DADoes

Yeah I remember the motor shuts off before the brake kicks in. mine was loud as heck during the spin cycle with severe vibration and sounded like a helicopter while ramping to speed. The sounds of the machine I love the most is the pump, the sound of it coasting down, and the motor during wash.

Thanks for the info guys.....I remember playing with one like Drew had years ago, and if I recall it had 2 rinses compared to the one this model has, a short spin after the wash would be nice, you guys are right, wash-drain-rinse-spin and thats it!...nice wind-up spin at high speed....I may have to tighten the belt, it's snug but still alot of play, not sure about that one...and the lid switch had to be by-passed, the tab on the lid is broken, so it wouldn't move the switch for the spin, no biggie, I would have done that anyway.....

I did a few loads, and really suprised how clean the clothes came out, and how dirty the water was, like DADoES, I think I will use it for soaking, or even quick loads here and there...

The reason they don't spin until the end is that they suds-lock horribly. I think this version is the one that alternates the fill valve with the pump in the initial stage of the spin to help rid the pump of foam so that it pumps instead of cavitates.
