The part number changed 10 years ago so this set has lasted pretty well.  Dealer in AZ says he is not importing anymore because the shipping has gone up so high that the cost of a set of brushes without shipping to customers would be over $80.00. He has 14 sets in stock and that will be it so I ordered two sets at a cost, with shipping, of $155.20. That stock should outlast me. The man said the machine is being treated gently to still be going and looking good and should keep going for a long time. I guess one load of peppermint press shirts a week is gentle use.

Creda laundry appliances were introduced/sold in the USA about the same time Miele and Asko began doing the same. Am guessing around late 1980's or so, am sure someone will have the right answer.

Some persons swore by the machines, others at them. Either way Asko and Miele stuck with the American market while Creda didn't.

According to the very helpful parts man in Arizona, respecting the load weight and using low sudsing detergent are two key factors to keeping these machines working; possibly affecting the life of the tub bearing. Mine is not abused in that way. I like the way the regular cycle, the only one I use, goes from the wash drain into the first of 4 deep rinses. The design of the intermediate spins between the rinses make great sense. It is pretty amazing how such a lightly built machine, compared to a Miele, can be so durable.

I think he said that they were not sold in the US after 1999 or 2000. He said he still had a good stash of parts so to be sure to check with him before getting rid of her if she suffers a failure.

One thing that is amazing is that for years now it only fills with hot water for the wash, no matter the setting which is not a problem, but with the temperature dial set at 115F and the hot fill of 140F, the machine still has to do a bit of heating to get the water up to 115F and that is with a non-metal outer tub so a lot of heat is lost heating up the stainless steel inner basket with the small amount of water this machine uses.

1150 Creda Supaspeed...

Great to hear the Creda is going strong Tom, and hope it lasts in years to come. Curious to know model you have? Loving the picture you posted Mike, as you know, they're my favourite series of Creda machines.

Launderess!

Hello buddy, Nice to hear from you..and to hear that I have been missed. Sorry I haven't posted on here much, just blended into the background for a while, though hopefully you'll be seeing me more often. Great to hear your still tuning in to The Laundry Lab YouTube page... and seeing this is a thread about Creda, there's a few Creda adverts on there too!

Christine Creda and I Thank You For Your Good Wishes

She is a model CWA 242 17064E. The number below that might be the serial number: 21173555.

As I have described before, she has two large dials; one is the timer dial  and the other dial sets the wash water temperature all the way from no heating up to 200F. There are 4 rocker switches: on the right is the On/Off switch, next the Slow Spin switch, then the SUPER WASH switch for more water and finally; Wash, Rinse Hold. The dispenser drawer is at the far left.

The cycles are as follows:

P Prewash

A 200F Whites

B 140F Colors Fast

C 105 Colors Non-Fast

D 120F Nylons/Poly-Cotton

E 105F Acrylics

F Fast Wash

G 105F Woolens

A-C are on the Normal cycle and D through G are on the shorter cycle. The water temperatures are independent of the cycle setting. I use C at 115F for shirts.

The parts should be here by Wednesday the 14th and surgery is scheduled for Monday the 19th. Jeff will be scrubbing and I will be assisting.

Have a great weekend.

Tom

Perhaps Final Report On the Replacement

I was absolutely amazed at the difference in spin speed with the new brushes when I washed the weekly load of shirts. The original belt looked to be in fine condition after 20+ years.

Vivat Creda!
