Haier H20 washer

I see that Haier have released their new H2o washer in Asia and in France, the big talking point is this washer apparently cleans without the need for detergent whatsoever.
This model supposedly uses negatively and positively charged ions which are blasted through the water to remove stains.
Please pardon the cynicism but this just seems like another sales gimmick to me, indeed a professor from an Australian university says he cannot even understand the information he got from Haier explaining how this would work.
Why must companies use such silly gimmicks to attract propective customers,and I wonder how much water this would use given our water problems here in Australia.
Any opinions folks?

What a stupid gimmick. It seems to me that Asian manufacturers love gimmicks. Pointless gimmicks that detract from an otherwise nice machine. For example the LG toploaders with that stupid punch+3 pulsator with the extra little whirly bits.

Of course it will work the first few times a consumer would use it but ultimately they would find that the H2O system doesn't work and return to using detergent. Or they might have no idea whatsoever and walk around in dirty smelly clothes.

Then of course they would blame the manufacturer of the machine. So it seems like a big gamble to make a machine based on such a flimsy concept.

Yes I agree with you totally but if anyone bought one of these and found it did not work as intended they would indeed be angry and would be Haier's own fault so they couldn't blame anyone but themselves.
I personally feel if Haier,(who are trying to establish themselves down here), would be better suited to inventing a simple, easy to use washer with rotary controls as most people I know hate the fuzzy logic controls most of these machines have.
I must be honest here as I am actually considering purchasing a top loader they make, theHWM65TLF top loader as it seems to be a good machine,6.5kg capacity and funnily enough for an Asian machine, has a full size agitator as opposed to a pulsator,stainless steel washbowl. yes does have fuzzy logic controls, but I could learn to live with them.
Haier actually are selling these direct from their warehouse at Silverwater at a good price too, usually $699.00 and marked down to $480.00 and actually looks like a normal washer.
Like you I thought the punch+3 L.G. thing was silly as well, why not just have a normal pulsator or agitator.
