3 weeks into using my brand new washer and mid cycle there was a loud pop then all the electric went off in the kitchen! Off to a great start to the new year aren't i, just waiting for the maintenance man to call round now! Any ideas what this might be?

What was it doing at that point?
If it was starting to turn, the motor/capacitor/part of the PCB that controlls the motor went bad.
If it was heating/turning the heater on, the heater relais died or the heater it self.
If it was about to drain, the pump went off or the triacs of the pump.
You see, what ever it was doing, the used part of the action it was doing or the PCB went.
So much about Haier.
Tell your owner he should buy a Miele and than he will have trouble free service for the next 10 years.
Or an AEG, these are pretty good units either...

It was draining! So I've just unplugged it and flicked the circuit board back on so I could cook and keep the fridge freezer running! The washer was the only thing on in the kitchen when it went bang, cheap machines! I can't say I'm surprised

There are lots of reasons a fuse may blow

So the machine isn't necessarily faulty, have you tried it again to see if it still works?

No I haven't switched it back on since! I nearly jumped out of my skin so I think I'll let an expert tinkle with it,it's not going to cost me anything for the maintenance man to check it out
