I've been reading up on Maytag dryers and there seems to be alot of opinions about Halo of Heat vs. Maytags normal duct system. I was told by two different repair men that they thought the regular duct system was far better and was less problematic. I now have two duct system dryers a 308 and a 608.....hoping to get a 808 pair with the light up consoles. I don't know if I should go after a halo of heat model or not. Any opinions.

Thanks!

I dont have any electric Halo Of Heats at the moment but have had several in years past and have repaired many. Most of the problems with them were user induced: ie, coins, nails, etc that worked their way in the front of the drum and shorted the element to the case of the dryer. The gas Halo Of Heats were another story. Not the best design as far as the flow of the flame into the plenum of the dryer. Have seen many Maytag HOH gas dryers that caught fire........one personally! But all in all the HOH was a pretty good design. Many lasted years and years and are still running strong and quiet.

Halo-of heat hands down!!

I grew up with a Gold 1973 Maytag dryer and they are great!! The only service call my mother ever had on it was when my father left his pocket knife in the pocket of his jeans and shorted it out the element. It was fixed by Purvis Maytag and we were in business again. i reciently had the oportunity to see a 1975 model set---606's, the washer got new belts, ad the dryer was perfect the way that it was, eletronics and all. 7500 wats of FAb drying in Sunburst yellow glory:)
