Hanging up at the get-go

I had friends who had a 1952 Frigidaire. It sat for 8 years, outside, in a barn unused. They moved to a farm with running water and when it was hooked up, it wouldn't start. George took it apart, greased it up and after that, it always turn a few loops before it would start agitating. I noticed in the clip of the Turquoise 58 it did the same thing, to a smaller degree. Is that a sign of some kind of age related problem, wear or lubrication? Most of the Frigidaires I remember, just quit filling and began pumping away?

There was nothing wrong with the machine...in a Frigidaire Unimatic, the tub does turn a little bit before it starts agitating. This is to unwind the clutch torque spring.

OMG! Can you imagine ALL a (*#%#@*#) Unimatic mechanism would need is a grease job! I (we all) should be so lucky!
