70 yrs ago today March 1st 1948, St Davids day the patron saint of Wales, marked the official production of the Hoover 0307 Wringer Washing Machine coming off the production line at Hoovers new and 1st washing machine factory in Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales UK, a former mining town being rejuvenated.

1948 - 2018

A small compact machine made for the British market, easily fitted under a draining borad and moved to where it was needed . An aluminium tub was bolted to a frame and base, the metal top has 3 uses, as a cover worktop, when over turned and place over the washer when working to prevent splashing...

And when slotted into the back under the wringer it acts as a collecting board for washing coming out the back of the wringer..

A simple design just an electric motor underneath, not even a switch, you simply plugged the machine in on the wall socket and switched on to start...The washing action used Hoovers famous Pulsator, a spinning disc revolving at 560 rom to drive the clothes through the wash water, so efficient it only took between 1 - 5 mins to complete the wash.

Mike!!  Such a thrill.  Thank you so much for sharing this magnanimous anniversary.  The design of this washing tub is so reminiscent of the modern day Hoover Twinnie--the washing half to me.
