Ethel: Yeah, it's probably something to wear.
Lucy: Don't you want to see what it is?

Lucy: Oh, go on, I bet Fred really out did himself this year.
Ethel: OK (Ethel slaps Lucy's hand away as Lucy tries to help get the bow off the box)
Ethel: Ethel looks confused as she holds up a pair of hostess pants, "He really outdid himself this time"
Lucy: Well I think they're kinda cute
Ethel: What are they?
Lucy: They're hostess pants
Ethel: Hostess pants?
Lucy: Yeah, you wear them to all those smart dinner parties
Ethel: I was wondering what to wear to all those smart dinner parties..
Lucy: You get yourself a black blouse, a cushy belt and some ballet slippers and you're all set
Ethel: All set for what?
Lucy: I saw them in Harper's Bazaar
Ethel: They're bizzare alright. I'd like to meet the idiot that talked Fred into these...
Lucy: (holds out hand and Ethel shakes it) How do you do

Lucy: I'm the idiot that talked him into these. I should have known better than to get you something from the young and modern department
Ethel: Oh Lucy I don't believe it, I got no use for these, I wanted a toaster.
Lucy: Well Fred told me that but I could'nt believe you could be that boring.
Ethel: Well if your so young and modern, you wear them.
Lucy: I would but first I would have take them in four inches in the seat
