Whirlpool Washer magazine ad

That is my ALL TIME FAVORITE WHIRLPOOL ad. And that Imperial Mark (whatever) tops my list of Whirly laundry. Selectable multiple speeds AND the 2-way dryer door that could swing down or sideways!!!

Thank you everyone for all your kind birthday wishes.
Greg-I told them I wanted my teeth IN before they took my picture for the Whirlpool ad.......
For birthday fun I am not doing any laundry but am going to run the top-load Kitchenaid dishwasher tonight. Now that is some real fun!

Unless I miss my guess, that ad is from the 1969-1974 time frame. There was NO. GETTING. AWAY. from fake woodgrain back then. None. It was everywhere, on everything, at every price point. Your car had it on the dash and doors, your appliances had it on their control panels and handles, your TV, stereo and radio were swathed in it. Clocks had it on their cases and faces. There was a line of kitchen accessories and bath stuff called Brentwood that was plastic moulded to look like carved wood. Farberware made a drip coffeemaker that was all fake wood that was supposed to look like something made at the turn of the 20th Century. There were plastic combs and brushes made to look like wood. Formica kitchen counters were printed to look like walnut or butcher block. And it was YEARS before it all went away.

You really had to be there. And be damn glad you weren't. *shudders*

I remember one broadcast transmitter builder had the fake "synthowood" front panels on the doors of their AM and FM transmitters.their transmitters were pretty good-but the "synthowood" doors were something elese-and these rigs were more often than not hidden at an unmanned transmitter site. The company is now out of business-and ther rigs show up on used transmitter lists from equipment brokers.
