Here's Carneval this week-end and especially Monday and Tuesday!!
It started yesterday with women's carneval (in Cologne dialect: Wiever-Fastelovend >spoken: weaver fast-a-loavened<) and on Sunday there are several processions around Cologne until on Roses'-Monday (Rosenmontag), which means actually rousing or rustling Monday, in the three big cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf and Mainz very big processions will take place throughout the towns centres, and everybody is laughing, kissing and drinking, singing and dancing in the streets - all in costumes! It's sooo much fun!!
On Faschingsdienstag (Fastings-Tuesday) in München/Munich same thing takes place!
Ash-Wednesday (Aschermittwoch) everythings over and the fasting-time begins until Easter.
It all starts then again on 11.11. at 11:11 o'clock with an interruption of several weeks during christmas-time an beginning of the year!!
Here people call it the fifth season and no-body's working on Monday in the big Carneval centres such as Cologne for example!
