Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas)

Hou'oli Makahiki hou (Happy New Year)

I am especially excited about New Years here. It is celebrated here with more fireworks than most mainland 4th of July celebrations. Our Neighbors have a huge Luau and then they set off so much fireworks, you cannot drive through the street for all the litter. Last year they blew through 10 enormous strings of firecrackers. You must make a lot of noise to drive all the bad spirits away from the new year.

Now what to do with all my "year of the Monkey" t-shirts

Texas:

Tuesday afternoon = ~72°F and air conditioning.

Wednesday night = predicted 31°F.

Friday night = predicted 26°F.

Minneapolis - St. Paul Metro

Tonight, low: -13F
Thursday, snow showers, high: -1F
Friday, bright sunshine high: +1F
Saturday, snow +18F

I was starting to get worried but after being three weeks late winter has finally arrived, YAY and we have snow on the ground now, hopefully snow cover will remain through the end of February. I love winter in Minnesota, its my most favorite season, I could never live without four seasons again.

Happy Holidays everyone, I wish everyone a White Christmas/Holiday Season for snow lovers like me, and a Green Christmas/Holiday Season for you warm weather lovers.

Snow

Its so funny here when you talk to the local people about snow. They get this wistful look on their face and say "Oh, I wish I could see what snow looks like." I know all too well what it looks like. I guess once every 10 years or so Haleakala will get a dusting. The mountains on the big island of Hawai'i get snow more often as they are higher than Haleakala. Lahaina has an event were they ship in crushed ice or something for the kids. Bet that lasts about 2 minutes.

The other thing that if funny is hearing all the local musicians doing their versions of "White Christmas" "Winter Wonderland" "Jingle Bells" and all other snow and cold type songs.

Snow Villages and gingerbread houses coated with snowy white frosting are oddly popular here.

I would feel more romantic about snow but the memories of shoveling are still present

Snow and washers are two of the main reasons I want to move further up North...I'm not much of a "Green Christmas" person.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Happy Holidays to All

13 degrees here right now and snowing like crazy. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I want to wish everyone in Applianceville a very warm and Happy Holiday! Terry

Partscounterman, that reminds me, I need to get that CD out, the one with Bing Crosby wearing the Santa Claus hat. I have always liked that song.

Robert's post had me scratching my head for a minute, but I looked out the window and I guess there is a little snow out there after all. Hasn't been a whole lot so far. Seems there is plenty all around other places, however.

As for me, I am leaving for California on January 14. Everyone have a happy holiday and best wishes for the new year!

30° this morning...YAY! My cousin called and said it was snowing in Houston. I'm hoping it reaches to Bellville as well...

Hmmm. If it's here, I figured it'd already be there. I received a peppered/smoked turkey as a gift from one of the employers. No room for the box in my fridge, so I have it out on the patio since last night. :-)

White Christmas Eve

On the Central Coast of Texas

No snow here--glad my parents got out of Houston b4 it hit. And my sister too outta Dallas. It was just plain cold here--15-18 at night and 32-34 during the day.

It's a good 4 inches deep now, if not a bit more. Amazing! Never seen anything like this here, and I'm 42 years old. I believe the last time there was snow in this area, or around Victoria TX (about 50 miles further west) was 1997. The last time Victoria had a white Christmas was 1918, and they already had three inches several hrs ago.

Here in Southern Connecticut it will be in the low 30's and sunny - no snow but plenty brisk enough - no snow in the forecast for the next 5 days. Spent Christmas Eve with longtime friends in the Boston area where it was in the low 20's but still no snow. Perhaps a walk on the beach this morning after Church is in order.

Between the Victoria newspaper and Houston Chronicle, here are the figures: Corpus christi got 3 inches (right by the gulf of mexico); Victoria got almost a foot; Goliad (where Rhinnie's sister lives) 8 inches; Beeville, 5 inches.

Granny's cousin a bit south of town says she measured 12" on her picnic table. This has to be one of the most rare of the rarest for weather conditions. The entire year of 2004 has been one of extremes -- June cooler than normal, record-setting flood in November, now a foot of snow on Christmas!

texas snow

this is going to sound funny but what does all the
folks in texas use to shovel snow

since texas usually does not get snow I did not know
if folks kept snow shovels for just such an emergency

Also I assume Lowes,Home depot and similar stores might have
them

Merry Christmas to all at applianceville

Wow, those pics are amazing! We've had a dusting last night and today, nothing at all like that! Have fun, and be careful!

Wow Glen, you guys really got it! Unfortunatly ours is modtly ice. They cant even clear the main hiways of it! This is a pic of my parents home. We will probably be stuck with this for a while.

Congratulations SE Texas on a White Christmas!!

WOW, beautiful pictures Glenn, thanks for sharing and congrats on your beautiful white Christmas! I saw the snow scenes today on the Weather Channel and thought of you guys. Hope you got out and enjoyed it.

We spent Christmas at Neal's parents house about 150 miles north of Minneapolis, where there was quite a bit more snow on the ground than here in the city this year. We went ice skating today on their frozen lake, I went sneaker skating as I'm too much of a klutz for ice skates, but it was beautiful bright sunshine, no wind and +5F degrees today out on the lake.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday and today.

Went and looked at Victoria's newspaper today, very picturesque, Christmas card-like photos. They really did get quite a bit of nsow down there.

Merry Christmas again!! Bob

Weather

Nothing exciting in Los Angeles. Has been mostly sunny 70's days, cold 40's nights. Rain expected Sunday and for a few days after, maybe heavy
