Re: reply 35, picture 4 of 4

The lens on the right hand side is from an A4MP with the timed fill, at least that is the model I have the booklet for. I don't know if it was available without a pump like the early AM machines which is the machine the middle light lens is for. Neither John nor I could figure out what the light lens on the left side is for.

Yes - both are correct! Thanks for answering, Tom. The one on the left was tougher to find as it's from a similar vintage mangle, thus the smaller size.

Similar to the set I have in avocado. One thing I did 2 years ago was I installed a low heat 120F thermostat in the DG306 since the cycling thermostat was acting wonky and the high limit thermostat kept on kicking the burner off since the cycling thermostat wasn’t working properly causing the sensitive high limit thermostat to kick the burner off, ever since I put a low heat thermostat in I haven’t had the burner kicked off by the high limit thermostat and seems to dry a bit faster. One observation I made was the front of the cabinet around shroud/halo would be quite warm to the touch and as the cycle progressed, it would be cooler and cooler to the point where it was just lukewarm just before the cool down part of the cycle. Since it pretty much was cooling down before the cool down, t-shirts were barely warm by the time it completed the drying cycle.

I think I may have invented the Maytag Soft Heat dryer since putting a low heat cycling thermostat in.

The high limit thermo in this dryer was incredibly weak. I don't think temps reached much beyond 95F until I replaced it. The damper pads were very dry in the washer. Both units were preserved under a very thick coat of nicotine (can be seen in the plastic console covers). I had to fully disassemble and clean then to rid of that smoker stank.

I would have tried putting a spacer or two right where the screw holds on the high limit thermostat on the burner cone so a little air bypasses the high limit thermostat to make it slightly less sensitive. Did that on the 306 when they cycling thermostat wasn’t working like it should have.

Maytag 810 set!

My family had the 810 set with gas dryer - lasted many years. The washer performed flawlessly and never needed a repair. The dryer was repaired a few times. I know there was a problem with the gas valve. I heard this from a few maytag owners that the washers usually outlived the matching dryers. I knew 2 other people that had the 710 model one had a matching dryer the other had a GE dryer that went with it. The 510 was a big seller cause it was cheaper and many people settled for the Large capacity fabric-matic.
