1) Tim, that's a big "if" in your OP.
2) Anyone who buys this machine would be best advised to hang onto their boomstick. It will come in handy to put the machine or themselves out of their misery.

Now, now, there are some of us who love the "lullaby" sounds of a Wards/Norge machine. I happen to have the same model in Harvest Gold, but with white fabric softener dispenser. Great machine!

Now, now, there are some of us who love the "lullaby" sounds of a Wards/Norge machine.
You'll tell 'em Todd. Actually our '64 Plus-Capacity Wards is one of the best machines in the basement performance wise. Cleans really well, so well in fact that I rarely ever use the full 10 minute wash period and it spins excellently for a large capacity machine of this era!

Well of course it's a good machine. And the noise is more like waking the dead, but what a glorious noise! At least with all the fun sounds you KNOW it's doing something. Thanks for the video post, Robert!

I would LOVE to have that Machine! Nana had several diffeents Norge's, but I'd love this one just to hear that...that...how do you describ that anyways?? I can hear it perfectly in my head. lol

Norge - Wards Washers
Were indeed always good performers, but I can't believe that Robert is endorsing a non-solid tub, neutral draining washer as one of the best performers in our basement, [ there is hope ] LOl.
But I must also agree with Ralph, a Norge built washer has NEVER been a washer that I would give to my Mother let alone even sell to a customer either new or rebuilt.
It is a very cool collectable washer however and I will be having a major Norge announcement next week, with pictures.

Oh, all this picking on Norge! My one and only Norge is a 1978 model, in wonderful condition and a powerhouse of a washer. Great turnover, capable of oversized large loads, extra-high-speed extraction, built like a tank. Louder than hell for sure, and I have to turn the volume up on the TV when it's running, but worth every bit of noise. The "Burp-O-Lator" agitator for detergent dispensing and lint filtering works very well and is FUN. Maybe other folks experience isn't as good with Norge, but I'm very happy with mine. Yes, delicates go in a different machine, but big loads of towels, jeans, throw rugs, etc, are perfect for this noisy brute. And with various Maytags, Kenmore/WP, GE, and 1-18's to compare it to, no others in my current line-up offer so much variety for agi speed independent of spin speed, and 5 temp combinations. And the partial neutral drian followed by the immediate spin/spray does a great job of rinsing too, never a suds-lock.
I'm glad there are so many different old machines and variations from all the manufacturers, it keeps this hobby interesting, you never know how your exact machine will stack up against other folks experience. My Norge experience is clean and reliable and loud.
