Eep

$500 for a fridge? Puh-lease.

The one thing I will say is that whomever painted the unit did a pretty darned good job on the harvest gold.

Of course, that's like painting a Maserati fuchsia and then commenting on how nice, deep, and lustrous the paint is...

That's just wrong. I mean, obviously it was professionally painted and they did a nice job on the paint job itself, but harvest gold on that is just wrong. LOL. Very interesting!

that is so wrong on so many levels

Look, I just woke up and all, but I think I will go back to bed and pull the covers over my head.
Suppose they did the Unimatic to go with it in Avocado? Oh, yeah...just imagine, with a little effort, perhaps they could have even managed real vinyl fake wood strips around the controls.
If I had the money, I'd buy this poor thing just to put it out of its misery. Wearing a hazmat suit, I'd go get it sand blasted and exorcised.
Gah.

This is worse than colorizing old black and white movies. Even the best colorizing job is a violation if it doesn't fit the era.

What I didn't like is that they had the shading at the edges of the paint too defined. On appliances that were originally Harvest Gold, the transition to the darker endges was more subtle.

At least they didn't paint the thing fire engine red. We all have seen that before!

Also, I have seen sellers who charge shipping fees for pick ups. Since Ebay has been posting shipping charges on the auction line, sellers are trying to find another way to 'gig' the buyers to maximize their profits. Some of these sellers have no shame!

Snowcrest White was also a color on the '58 Chevy Impala

I don't remember shading on early color-toned appliances...that started back circa 1965...

Weren't the original Frigidaire colors Petal Pink, Pastel Yellow, Turquoise Blue, Coppertone, Charcoal Gray (read black), and Snowcrest White (which as shown above was also a color on the '58 Chevy Impala?)

But painting a classic Frigidaire refrigerator Harvest Gold is like painting a classic Chevy Impala Wild Raspberry or, heaven forbid, Avocado Green.

BTW, anyone remember when Whirlpool tried to get us to buy Platinum- and Toast-colored appliances in the late '80s? Frigidaire had better luck with Poppy Red!
