Select 7/11's are doing this. There are several in the Bay Area that have supposedly switched but none near me. They supposedly carry some of the brand names found on The Simpsons also.

I don't watch The Simpsons so don't know what the motivation for this is. Last time I watched the Simpsons on a regular basis was on the Tracy Ullman show when the Fox Network was brand new. I don't think they even had a name then, they were just a filler cartoon.

It was in the suburbs....

Close in to the city. Not really anyplace you'd want to get out of your car, though, really.

Simpsons on Tracey Ullman

One of these filler cartoons turned me OFF to the Simpsons. Bart and the middle girl let the young girl float down the gutter on some water flowing there, and paid no attention at all when she was swept into a sewer. For whatever reason, on that day, I felt that such a plot was outrageous and unacceptable. Since then I have watched perhaps two of the regular Simpsons shows, because I was with friends who were so insistent of its humor.

Yeah, I know some people who think it is great, but I don't
think I have watched more than a couple episodes (TV was on
and I saw parts of them.) One might say it is humor of the
absurd, but then I say the same thing about Fox News and I
don't watch that either. I don't believe it advances the
cause of a better world.

Road Rangers

All of the Quik Trips in our town were taken over by Road Ranger. Since that happened, there have been two violent episodes at two different locations.
Nature of the business, I guess.

Tom, I'm with you about the Simpsons in general. I'm just waiting for those jokers at Websters to include "doh" in their listings.

I didn't see that particular one on Tracy's show but agree with you about its poor taste. I've never understood the Simpsons phenomenon.

I never understood the attraction of the Simpsons either. I've watched a few episodes, but they really didn't appeal to me.

Give me the proper cartoons any day: Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther, Top Cat, Daffy Duck, etc, etc.

I liked the Tracy Ullman Show. I particularly liked the skits she did as an older woman named Kay. Never did take to The Simpsons, though, so the whole phenomenon puzzles me. Oh, well . . .

I seldom watch tv other than PBS, History, documentary type shows and we don't rent movies BUT I have to say I really enjoy the Simpsons for a laugh. It certainly beats crap like Everybody loves Raymond, Friends and a list of other current and now defunct 1/2 hr sitcoms. Seinfeld and Fraser excluded.
Tracy Ullman was great, I wished she was on more.. The last special I think she had was the one where she played Ruby Romaine, the hairstylist on the movie lot, doing Debbie Reynolds hair etc. That was hilarious.

When the Simpsons first began, I didn't like the show because I thought it was a bad influence on kids. One kid in particular I knew had a great time emulating the behavior of Bart which only added to the problems his family was experiencing at the time. As time wore on, I came to enjoy the show more and do like watching it now and then. The satire is awesome! BTW, Jake turned out just fine is now a senior at the Univ. of Wyoming. It's all about the parents really, kids are exposed to lots of awful things on TV but it's the family that keeps things in perspective and the kids on track where they need to be.

Yup, saw it this Sunday

We took a drive over to Henderson, it's part of the general Las Vegas area, where they have one of these. All the employees were in good nature about the place. People taking photos like crazy.

And the donuts were tasty as well!

Count me among the Simpsons fans. I like some shows more than others, but many of the characters are unforgettable. There's quite a bit of tolerant social commentary hidden in between the lines of the show, which I would think would appeal to many here. There's also a fair amount of slapstick, dumb humor, as well as quite sophisticated and literate grown-up humor. It's interesting also that despite the sometimes biting social commentary, some Christian religious groups have lauded the show for showcasing devout Christians like the Flanders family.

A few of the past shows were quite avant-garde, with a stream-of-consciousness approach that I found quite entertaining.

I will be looking for a "Kwik-E-Mart near me... lol... and I will probably purchase the movie DVD when it comes out.

Oh, and I also love the Looney Tunes stuff too, esp. Daffy Duck.
