Hi Guys

Was in Asda the other day and they are selling their own brand boxes of 36 tablets for only £1.

Just been on the Asda website and there are no tablets under the "tablets & Liquitabs" section, just liquitabs.

Does anyone know any info about it? Is it the start of tablets being withdrawn from the market?

Can't find any laundry tablets on the website

In addition to the above post was just checking the Asda website again and can't find ANY brand of tablets on their website! Im sure I was looking correctly but can't see any tablets anywhere. Have I gone mad or are they not stocking any laundry tablets now?

Mark

They were selling off all boxes of tablets at the front of the West Bridgford Supercentre lastnight, Persil, Ariel, Bold etc for £1.50 a box or something stupid like that.  Not surprising to say the pallets were empty!

Might be a sign of things to come, with P&G planning on phasing out tablets over the next couple of years.

Oh blimey maybe Asda have stopped selling tablets then..That's a bugger as I do like tablets. I don't really have any other local supermarkets. There is a very small Tesco's but it does not sell much at all. The next nearest supermarket is Sainsburys but it's so expensive. I will have to have a proper look for tablets when im in Asda tomorrow just to see if there are any tablets about.

not suprised tablets are going

the metal and plastic wrappers they come in are a bit wasteful, if they would have kept super compact powders out we wouldn't have a problem

Hopefully Ariel will change its formula again soon, so it will actually clean clothes properly without added stain removers, and drop all the actilift crap, which is a stain preventer, not a stain releaser.

Maybe Ariel will adopt the Compact Name, like they have in France and Germany =]

I dont understand why we dont share detergent formulas with Europe :(

I'd like to see compact powders make a comeback, they will probably pull it off this time of they flaunt their 'green' credentials.

It has been mentioned somewhere before on here that our powder detergents now are no more "diluted" than the Ultra formulas of yesteryear... the 130ml dose on the compact tins from the 90s is exactly the same as the current 130ml dose for powders sold today.  Yes, not as concentrated as the super-compact formulas on the continent, but no less concentrated than the Ultra powders that were here 10 years ago.  Would be nice to have a super-concentrated powder though like the continental versions, and I think the market is ready proved by the popularity of Small and Mighty and Excel Gel liquid detergents.

Kyle - not sure where you've been buying Ariel from or what your dose is, but it has never failed to clean properly for me! :)

Problem is...

British people are too dumb when it comes to measuring detergent

in 1999 they got rid of Ariel Futur Super Compact Powder,Daz Ultra, Bold Ultra, and Fairy Ultra in Favour of the Tablets because the tablets were more convenient, and people weren't convinced that one small scoop of powder was enough.

However if they bring out Compact Detergents, one scoop per wash on the box, it might take off if theres no alternative big box powders

we should just have powder or liquid and thats it, Liqutabs i think are a fad, as you can get more washes in a compact bottle of liquid, and its better value.

Seems you're right there - looks like they were selling off the smaller boxes of tablets in order for the new, bigger boxes coming in.  Looking at the online store, it seems that the smaller packs have been phased out.

Ariel

Ariel liquid ist going to have the same formula in complete western Europe. It starts with the new packaging that will look like this:

I had the chance to smell the Ariel in the new bottle if they changed the scent as well. Unfortunately they did and I think it is disgusting. Never will buy that liquid Ariel if it stays like that.

It is. This cap is also a dosig "ball" with small lines to measure the amount of detergent. It has been raised from 70 to 73 ml for normally soiled laundry, medium water hardness.
