HDMI --> Component Converter

I opted for a Universal H2CS converter, which is the top-rated choice at Top 7 HCMI to Component Converters of 2019.  It came back in-stock for a couple minutes at the Amazon source.

LG UBKM9 player, which is the Walmart version of UBK90 which received reasonably-high marks on a few reviews.  It has an optical SPDIF/TOSLINK audio output for my Sony A/V receiver which many players nowadays are lacking.  The Universal converter also has optical audio output converted from the HDMI input but I'd rather get that feed direct from the player.

The LG has WiFi so no ethernet cable running across the room.  The Netflix interface is much nicer on the LG than the 10+yo Samsung it replaced, and now I get captioning on Netflix.

Converter box works nicely, new player works nicely.  Win/win thus far.

It's 16 years old. Flat screen LCD. Not very energy efficient by today's standards. Going strong still. I think it's only 32",  Everyone tells me to get a new tv. LOL  Why?  I plug my amazon firestick into the HDMI port and I get what I need.  I broke the cord with cable 2 years ago.

I have the opposite problem. My new 50" Samsung flat panel TV is great, but it only has HDMI inputs (as well as internet). The problem is that for stuff I record off TV, the closed captioning will not show up when the dvd player is connected to the TV with HDMI. (The old Visio had component inputs and the closed captioning showed up with that). I thought I had solved the problem with a component (DVD Player) to HDMI converter, but the CC still doesn't show. However I'm keeping the converter because it gives better picture dimensions for these home-recorded dvd's that the player HDMI output can do.

 

In any case, when I was searching for a component to HDMI converter, I noticed that HDMI to component converters are also available. You just have to Google it.
