eMail just in From our Internet Service Provider:

As part of our continued effort to deliver the best security and reliability to your websites, we will be migrating customers to a new datacenter starting tonight, 17 Oct 2022 at 21:00 CDT and running through 18 Oct 2022 at 07:00 CDT.

During the migration of your server, we are expecting 5 minutes of downtime for your website(s) and email, as well as an inability to access your server. However, the maximum amount of downtime you may experience is up to 30 minutes.

We assure you that every effort is being made to minimize any impact to your site(s) and ensure that your environment is restored to normal operation as soon as possible.

Thanks for letting us know, Robert.

Hi Rich, yeah it was down for a couple of hours around midnight central time last night. I contacted support and they told me that supposedly it was due to maintenance work related to what was done on the 17th. I never know really what to believe but thankfully it was back up without any issues.

Oy vey, I need a drink.

It was down this morning for a couple of hours too, from about 10am to about 12:30pm. Its working fine now.

And Robert thanks again for keeping this site up and running! I can completely relate to the responsibility required and the work too. I’ve been on the board of our HOA non stop for 27 years, pres. since 2005 and its a lot of work too!

Hats off to you for taking on this work and responsibility! I know its a lot of extra work!

Eddie

Thanks guys for letting me know, I saw that too. I cannot say for sure what the problem is at the ISP however there are lots of posts out there on webmaster forums with really annoyed webmasters so it's not just us.

Hopefully they will get their act together soon and fix whatever issues this datacenter migration seems to have introduced.

This is making me feel like poor Holly..

Yeah I've heard that a two others on Friday. One person a reboot solved the error and it went away. We believe this a false positive coming from Avast. I downloaded and installed Avast and cannot get this error/warning to pop up on any of my computers.

I tripled checked the code and nothing has been changed on the posting program since 2019 so I'm not sure what it causing that.

The other person whitelisted aw and that solved the problem on their side. I googled the Avast program and found a lot of people report false positives with that free anti-virus program.

Thanks that's what I've thought, sites are now on the white list.
Had a false positive problem once, when installing and old PLC programming software using the official cd-rom and real product key.

Ugh more down time, I apologize everyone there was another outage at the web hosting provider. We are at the mercy of the web host so these are completely out of my hand unfortunately.

As for the Avast error that a couple of people reported to me on Friday and Monday, I contacted Avast and they investigated on their end, they responded:

"Thank you for reporting this false positive.

We have now cleared its reputation in our database based on the findings and removed the detection. This change may take up to 24 hours to take full effect. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience caused.

If the detection persists after 24 hours, update the virus database in Avast anti-virus and reply to this email with the attached files:
1.Take a screenshot of the Avast detection dialog (Threat Secured pop-up with See details - displayed at the bottom).
2.Take a screenshot of the Avast virus database (open Avast antivirus and go to Menu > About).
We hope you have a nice day and stay safe online.

Uni/Robert,

Thanks for the info.

Yes, I was noticing the outage this morning. WTF? I wondered. I hope the web host improves their service...

It came back of course, after maybe 2-3 hours. All seems good now. Until next time, LOL.

And yes, this is a great site, regardless of the web host's foibles.
