Full-size Miele, washer and dryer

Wow neat color never knew these came in any color choices looks like they’re 2011 machines.

It was a darn shame that Miele did not stay in the full-size market, but I’m sure they couldn’t afford to keep producing the size and quality of machine. Once all the Korean competition came in, especially and the Chinese washers.

But one thing is for sure appliances are not getting smaller in general and Miele and Bosch will eventually reenter the full-size market if they want stay major players in the world, wide market of laundry appliances.

This would be a very cool pair for somebody to have in their collection. We’ve had some of these washers in one of the dryers and they were very well-made machines no less reliable than their compact machines that’s for sure.

Several members had those uber Miele washers and matching dryers. Some swore by them, others at them.....

Besides various quality issues yes, Miele was being killed (IIRC) on price.

Unlike Bosch who built their uber sized NeXXT W&D in their USA factories, Miele still clung to building things in Europe then shipping to America. As one may imagine shipping those big washers and dryers cost dear.

Miele's "Little Giant" washers and dryers are still available in USA. Capacity wise one believes W1 series washers have greater or similar capacity as 4XXX series.

Remember for Normal/Cottons/Linens Miele recommended only loading 4XXX washers three quarters full. Meanwhile the 30XX series that came out at same time could be loaded like Miele washers of old.

Front load washer capacity

Manufactures play all kinds of games with a capacity, but the size of the tub is what’s important.

Even if you don’t pack the thing full with 25 bath towels, the larger tub is still very beneficial when you wanna wash things like three or four bed pillows or maybe a king size comforter, that isn’t that heavy but you need the extra space for good washing and proper fall. You just can’t get that in a smaller machine with really large loads.

Same thing with the dryer you need the space for things to fluff up and be wrinkle free.

Perhaps

But many felt the W3xxx series had same capacity and was built to higher standard than W4XXX.

However suppose as with everything else it comes down to what one washes often. If one wants to do queen or king sized duvets or other bulky items then 4.0 cubic foot drum of W4xxx probably would be a good thing.
