Heads Up! Verizon DSL/Dial-up Customers, Changes To Newsgroups

Verizon has announced it will soon stop access to all but the "Big 8" newsgroups.

These changes can be laid mainly at the door step of New York State AG, Andrew Cuomo, who recently announced an agreement with Verizon and several other Internet providers regarding access to "child porn" sites.

Mr. Cuomo has been busy hauling or threatening to haul into court anything that breathes, laying the ground work for yet another try at becoming governor or New York State.

One not-so-minor correction: these ISPs are also stripping ALL alt.* groups, and alt is one of the Big-8. The decision to gut Usenet has jack squat to do with "child porn" and everything to do with conflict of interest, e.g. people downloading music and video from Usenet binary groups.

The fascist noose tightens another big notch.
