Hey guys!!!
I started working on the 69' filter-flo the other day. I got the old tub, tranny, and boot out in order to replace them all. I put in a brand new, never-used tranny. The only thing that sucks about that is it uses the 9-tooth spline instead of the 20 so I have to get new splines for my agitators. No biggie.
The problem I'm sure you've all experienced is how to get that darn boot on and get it to seal. I got it clamped on finally but had quite a bit of water escaping the outer clamp. I'm wondering if you can go too tight on the clamps? Should I just get caulking and seal it that way too? Any info would be most helpful because I'd love to get this machine back to life soon.
FYI...I did check out a little bit underneath. The original tranny is still there and the two "fingers" that determine speed are both intact as well. That's promising news and hopefully we'll get 3 speeds again.
Anyways, thanks in advance for the advice!
Jon
