I know I know but others have put questions on here about their Vacuums so here go mine. I bought a Hoover bag less canister with a power head for carpet. I have two problems with this vacuum and I am hoping that someone one on the web site can give me some information. This machine is less than 2 years old and I hate it. I can not use the power head on any carpet pile, or low. The power head stops rotating. I have tried reducing the suction to no avail. There is no height adjustment so the beater bar just stops turning. Also I have two long hair dogs, "Aussies" and if I do try use the power head I have stop turn the head over to pull the hair off from around the beater bar. This is after just one room, I have never had to do this any other Hoover I ever owned. If any one has any advice or suggestion before I throw this piece of crap out the window, I will for ever be in your debt.
I’m also not wild about the control location, (they are on the top of the wand) it seemed like a good idea but I am always hitting one of the buttons and reducing the power. The one plus is it is bag less.
I will be waiting for a flood of information
Thanks!

I can't imagine wanting a bagless vaccuum, but anyhoo .

I have two dogs, and my old Hoover Dimension worked just fine for many years. When I got a newer Hoover to replace it, I had similar problems to what you're describing.

I took it in to the service guy, and he said that I have to thoroughly clean all the dog hair off the beater brush after every use, and regularly pull the brush out and make sure that the bearings turn freely.

The newer Hoovers use a long, flat belt which will heat up and stretch out when the machine bogs down with dog hair. When the belt stretches out, the brush doesn't have enough torque to turn.

I like my old Hoover better.

Consider a lower end Miele vacuum with a power brush. We deal with a lot of dog hair here and our Miele gets it all up!
Try the "black sock test". Use your current machine to vacuum and then wear black socks around the house for awhile. How much dog hair is on them?
Try a Miele and repeat the test. You'll have no hair at all! And with the charcoal filter, you won't have any "bad vacuum" smell at all!

Hoover Bagless?? Oh no! Do you have a 5lb hammer? ;-)

It sounds to me like belt is the issue but it sounds like it may only be a temporary fix. Maybe you should consider a good upright and use the canister for suction-only tasks - edges, furniture, drapes and a Flowbie. I was in House of Vacuums today and they had a very nice Hoover Concept One upright, refurbished and nearly mint. It would tear right through dog hair without blinking. I love mine and always say that if a vacuum can rattle dishes in the cupboards, you know the carpet is clean!

i assume its the cleaner with the "Windtunnel" powernozzle. the brushroll in that nozzle works well, but two years means its time for a new belt. go to the vac shop and ask for "the belt for windtunnel canister powernozzle". if you dont mind the pleated filter on that machine, good for you! with a new belt that nozzle should work great on pet hair. Miele is an EXCELLENT cleaner, but the traditional-style Panasonic canister is more affordable and cleans very well also.

about Greg's Hoover Concept suggestion: the Concept series must be one of the best-cleaning vacuums ever in history. funny thing about the agitators in those, the soft brushes combined with beater bars means they get all hair and debris up instantly and are gentle on carpets at the same time.
