Help needed - Trying to find dryer door gasket

I am new to vintage sets and have been able to purchase a Montgomery Ward Signature 860 set. Both pieces work great.
That being said, the only thing I need is the dryer door gasket. It seems the more I search, the more confused I end up lol.
Does anyone know the part number and where to get it?

Dryer Door Seal For A Norge Built Dryer

The Part# is easy to get, just look it up with the model# of the dryer, the problem is that it will be hard to find anyone that has one.

 

The other issue is that from your picture there is nothing wrong with the door seal on your dryer, if the door is not closing as well as you like the door latch is probably worn.

 

Also keep in mind that these Norge built dryers always leak [ hot steamy linty air ] every where, this is normal and if you fix the leak at the door seal the dryer will actually take longer to dry and use more power.

That is exactly the problem- dries great, just get the hot air leaking from around the door.

Its a Norge, they dry great, but use a different method than other dryers, there is a giant fan in the back that blows air thru the drum, rather than pulling it thru as nearly all other dryers do, it dries great, but if there is a opening, or crack, out comes lint, they didn't get the nickname The Flockerator for nothing!!

These Montgomery Ward Norge washers and dryers are interesting, but tended not to age too gracefully. My folks had a set when I was growing up, but I haven't seen another since. Please take some pics, I'd like to see what your machines look like.

had a 1980 monkey ward dryer much like yours-door did leak air and lint as stated,also had to clear lint from the motor about every other year or motor would overheat and stop during drying cycle.Dryer lasted to 1998 when motor seized.

Ok, maybe someone knows...

Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the handle? I understand these are prone to leaking air around the door etc, but my wife is finding dryer sheets that made it past the door lol.
My first response was to not use dryer sheets, but since I have been married for 20 years and have learned that she will not settle i am actually going to have to attempt a repair.
I see 2 screws on the inside of the door, but wanted to check before I mess it up any further.

There is one possible solution to putting some body back into the door gasket or lead in your Eberhard Farber as they used to say. You can take the door apart to get to the gasket and remove it from its mounting. Then you take the plastic material called caulk saver which comes in ropes of various diameters and, using the one that mostly fills, but does not overfill the tube of the gasket, you push it through then reinstall the gasket and reassemble the door. It will provide a tighter seal at the door, but as others have stated, the dryer is going to blow lint out the other places with air leaks and with better sealing at the door, you will be able to discover them.

I adjusted the door latch, much better. The gasket does in fact seem to be fine. The air leak is actually coming from gap between the door bottom and the lint trap. Not exactly sure how to fix this one lol

I have found that actually grabbing the door and twisting it a little bit in the direction it needs to seal at will also help. It really is a flawed design. The gas dryers of that vintage and even the older ones had a tendency to catch on fire because of all the lint build up. That was the demise of my parent's old '57 gas dryer.
