I am trying to take the motor out of a KDS 18. So far I've done the following

From the bottom side
Removed
4 screws attaching motor & clips
3 electrical wires

Interior
Removed
Lower spray arm
Screen
Black mound shaped cover (held in by 4 screws)

here is where I get stuck
There is another black cover fairly flat with indentations held in by a central bolt. The bolt head is round, no slot for a screw driver
what do I do at this point or did I miss something ?

thanks in advance

help is on the way..

Mark, dont get nervous.. go to your email and see what I want you to do! This pump comes out from the inside of the amchine in one whole assembly. Then you can work on it on your kitchen table!

The front face has seen better days

The white stains are dryed on detergent & lighting effects. But the fake wood face is worn. Not bad for a 35th birthday. Other wise the machine has worked well for dear old mom.

What A Beauty!

Mark as we discussed earlier this evening. I see your machine is in fantastic shape and you do have the original smaller sized upper washarm. The only problem with it was it didnt get to the corners of the rack very well and was redesigned and superceded byt the larger arm starting on the 19 series and went trhu to the end of the true Kitchenaid inspired designs of the 22 and 23 series, though the 23 had a the whirlpool power module pump adapted to work in the Kitchenaids. After that, it Kitchenaid Dishwashers were nothing more than Whirlpool clones with Stainless Steel tanks.

I cannot believe that with all the people on this forum who sing tales of their love and devotion to the 18 series machines, that nobody was interested in getting the complete machine from you.

Everyone, listen up! COntact Mark if you want the unit. I think he could be easily persuaded to not part it out if you really want a great machine. Dont let him part it out!

I haven't had the pictures posted for more than 3 minutes & I see that the forum's expert Steve T is already commenting. Thanks for your earlier help & advice. regards Mark
