My 1000 GE potscruber dishwasher from 1990 is leaking out of the bottom of the door. Do I get this fixed or get a new machine? It cleans well but makes all kinds of groans and moans when running. The upper rack on the left side is pretty much rusted. Is there anyone that would want it if I do get a new one? I don't really know if this is a collector's dream or a nightmare? Thanks for all of your help. Gary (and Fred, who really dosen't like getting his paws wet)!

Look at it this way, your dishwasher is 16 years old. I don't think the GE's from that time period had anything remarkable about them.
If it's just a door seal, if I were you I would just go ahead and fix it, but if it is anything more serious such as a rusted tub, I would think it's time to go shopping. Anything more serious than a door seal may cost you the same amount to fix as buying a new machine.
Several people here have bought LG machines and are happy with them. Of course if you live in the high rent district you could go with Miele. I have also owned a Maytag in my past and really liked it. Whirlpool machines also seem to be popular at the moment.

my 2 cents

go with a GE Profile Tall Tub. Their wash system is utterly fantastic. I know from experience.

i JUST got a Haier put in my apartment. yeah it washes well, but it looks like and is built like an utter piece of shit!

it's just fine for a residence that's not mine and that i only have to live with for a year, but if you bought a Haier for yourself, you'd hate it. that's a promise.
