i have no knowledge of washing machines whatsoever, i have just moved in to an old property in the north east of england which has a really old bendix washing machine, possibly from the 50's looking at some older threads, possibly a bolt down version which is probably why it was left in by the relatives of the lady who had lived there, not sure if it works

this area of the house is being demolished in a few weeks, i hate throwing things out which is why i have joined this site to see if has any value to me or to anyone else, i was thinking of contacting some local museums

you guys know your stuff and seem passionate about such things i thought i would throw it out there

Bendix Model D

Lovely find there John, its a Bendix model D (UK) if my memory serves me right without consulting the doctrine...it is fully automatic, doesnt have a heater but a water miser (water level) and a Hot Warm Cold temp setting, it does indeed need to be bolted down, looks in good nic, I have one that needs re-building and is in a far worse state....

Am sure you can find a good home for it, Lance?? boys up North??, heres Darren C`s from Lincoln later model M , in action with heater & top controls although this one is semi-automatic..uses the same cabinet..

A rare find

there John, I am supossidly restoring one of these for a friend, hopefully you will find a home for this one, Ricky would go nicely with your LT.

The one I'm working on does have a heater, but don't know how fits in with the timed wash cycle, so would be interested to know. Eg does it heat up to a temperature set on the was temperature selector, then start washing not sure.

Those taps are also essential to keep, would be chomping at the bit to buy those.

Sadly this was taken a few years ago, and does not look this good now,

All the best

Mathew

Good looking machine

This Bendix looks very similar to a Bendix I knew in the mid to late 1950's. Some friends had it at their lake house here in North Carolina, USA. It had to be bolted to the floor.

Of course, since it was in the USA, it ran on 120 volts, so the cord and plug were a bit different.

It's a shame Bendix is no longer with us.

Thanks for sharing.
