Frozen transmission
So Soberleaf (who opened this thread) and Rollermatic are the same (?)
My 806 with the frozen tranny also has a seal issue. I filled it to the med load level and left it for a few hours. Came back to puddle on floor. Slow water leak into transmission. This was months ago. So I know there is a major issue here. I'm going to swap out the 806 set for the Kenmore set. SOMEday maybe learn how to take the transmission apart LOL. But my A712, I'm going to find another working machine and have someone swap trannies for me. - someday - right now other life events to tend to. Glad to hear Soberleaf found his was fixable. I may fill my A712 to medium load level and look for a trickle leak. If I don't find one, I'll look at the options posted here.
ALL of my vintage Maytags have an issue:
A806S (from Goatfarmer) needs to agitate several min before I put clothes in due to sluggish agitation - prolly needs new tranny fluid and clean-up. But once it warms up - its sweet!
A806 (from Capt Moody) - I got a few years of use from this B4 the tranny seizure
A712 (from local CL) was a workhorse until it seized
A906 (from TrainGuy) UGH! my biggest disappointment
I added a 3rd spring to the motor carriage to allow it to spin correctly. Otherwise is ramps up to a fast spin (like there was no clutch action) causing the motor to kick out on thermal overload. The 3rd spring helps with the clutching and it spins correctly. however the agitation is slow. It likely also has thick tranny fluid and needs to be taken apart. I let it agitate empty for 10 min before adding clothes to let it get up to speed. but then the clothes load it down and it agitates sluggish again.
