Hello Everyone

Last year I managed to pick up a Mobile Maid for very little and up until recently, worked perfectly. Recently I had to replace the hoses on it and after running it after that, it is not performing correctly. It fills with water, but as soon as the timer switches to start washing, the water is being pumped straight out. The wash arms are able to spin but only has a small amount of water, but not enough to clean properly.

I am hoping that someone can help me to shed some light onto this matter as to what I need to do. Is there any chance that when we replaced the hoses, that we have done something wrong in re-connecting the hoses? Or could it be the timer?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Bruce

OK, it's six o'clock in the AM, and I can't slee

Sounds like the cams on your timer are shorting or something has broken on the timer that controls reversing the motor. During drain periods the motor is reversed to pump water out of the machine instead of into the tub impeller. I have a similar problem on my Maytag top loading portable, but in my case, the motor doesn't ever reverse to drain. Hope someone here will contradict me, because if I'm right, you're going to need to find a new control timer. Or find someone who can repair it.

Just occurred to me: is there an overflow flotation device on the bottom of the tub? If there is, and it's set wrong, it could be telling your machine to pump out the water too soon. It would look like, either a plastic upside-down flower pot, or a codpiece. (and don't pretend you don't know what that is)

draining out...

does this have a side mounted motor, or a motor mounted under the center of the tub? I find the side mounted motor assemblies sometimes have problems with the solinoid/flapper diverters on the pump housing- show a pic of the motor! Robert

hose jamming the solenoid

I agree with Robert. Sounds like the new hose may be holding the drain solenoid partially open or jamming it in some way.

Hoses backwards

Hi, I saw your post and had an idea. Perhaps you misplaced the hoses back on the pump, putting the drain hose onto the port for the power shower, and the power shower hose on the drain port? That would explain why it empties as soon as it start to wash...the power shower feed is pumping out the drain hose.

Hope this helps! I have one of these machines & I think they are a lot of fun. Good luck!

Hey Guys

Thank you for your advice. Will try and let you know.

Robert, the motor is a central mount and I will take a photo when I get a chance.

Regards Bruce

Hmmm give me a minute to wipe the mud off my face!

Alan you were correct! The hoses were on backwards. Don't I feel a bit embarassed LOL. She is working perfectly again.

Many thanks to all Bruce
