Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thanks TwinnieFan

Although I am not anywhere near Sydney, unfortunately. $50 for 3KG of Persil would soon add up to something closer to $600, after flights, accomodation, shipping & handling (and settling) are all factored in :P

I think the new Rosalie's would come in cheaper - even with the lovely cost of shipping across the (reasonably large) ditch!

I can go to Blacktown and buy Filipino Tide with phosphates.

A discontinuation of Cold Power Powder would not be a good thing. I still buy this product regularly and use it for hot, warm and (yes, I know, *shriek!!!*) cold washes. It's scent I find quite attractive; I am referring to the regular Cold Power scent. It is lovely, but not overpowering and, since I don't use softeners, it leaves just a hint of a scent after drying. I've been buying American Ajax and Dynamo liquid detergents from the Chemist Warehouse of late and a tub of Kirkland multi-purpose detergent is always present in my laundry. The Cold Power suspended powder liquid has always been a reliable product, especially whilst traveling and having to use commercial laundromats. It's scent evokes nostalgic memories of fun times during holidays.

I sincerely hope that they will not change the current product line-up too much. Instead they should just add some boutique products for the boutique types among us. Powder has always been my thing, not liquids so much. They are a secondary choice and I find that the German detergents smell much stronger and linger in my clothes longer.

Hi Olav,

We had issues with all three racks rusting in our 3 yo Miele earlier this year. Miele replace the racks for free, but as part of that suggested that we only use powder. As I'd heard that numerous times from Royal Doulton and the like, that they don't recommend tablets that didn't seem like such a bad idea.

The one thing we've found that Finish powder doesn't work on, is Starches. If you take a pot with Pasta or Potato residue in it, it wont come out shiny, regardless of how hot or long the cycle is.

We keep a package of Finish Quantum on hand to use for those dishes and use powder for the rest. Miele gave me a free pack of their tabs to try and convert me, but I'm yet to break into it and give it a try.

Regards

Nathan

G'day Nathan,

That is true actually, I, too, have found that potato starch, in particular, is a problem. Because the potato starch doesn't come off with the same consistency as other soils, I've been pre-washing these pots as a result. With pasta I haven't found it to be an issue. Maybe because I put a teaspoon of olive oil in the water? There is usually no starchy residue to speak of. For cooking pots of any kind I usually pick the longest, hottest cycle and make sure the soil faces the water spray head on and solids get scraped off - no pre-rinsing, of course.

Rusty racks in a three year old Miele and they say that it is the tablet formulations? I wonder if that's been picked up by consumer review websites? Are other dishwashers similarly affected? That shouldn't be. Miele is a premium brand and this I would lay at their door step. So they recommend that you use powder, but gave you a sample of 'their' tablets. Let me ask, "what are they worth on the open markte?" Sounds to me like a bit of back-handed marketing, if you ask me.

Hi Guys
I've noticed today that the new Henkel branded Cold Power and Dynamo products have hit our shelves. They have reformulated the liquids and powders and introduced Cold Power Dual Caps which look identical to Henkel made Persil Caps. It will be interesting to see if they bring anything else out such as Dynamo Pods.
I've bought a few things to try and so far so good considering we don't generally have a lot of stains on our laundry.

Matt

Somat Gold gel in IGA

Today at the local IGA wandering up the detergent and laundry isle, they stock brands that are not available at the big 3.
I saw a brand never seen before.. Somat dishwasher gel and two types of capsules. I don't like the whole gel capsule thing so I purchased the gel.$18 ... Not cheap but its my lockdown treat.

1st thoughts it smells nice, doest foam up in the dishdrawer. A load of pasta and baked on cheese plates coming through now. Results tomorrow
