Wow, who could believe the High Holidays are only a month and a half away now. Ohhh I just can't wait for this years "Happy Gay Pride" thread. :)

But anyway, in the meantime did anyone of you catch this prime-time television "very first" last night? A real live gay wedding on ABC's Brothers and Sisters...

I did not see it Robert so thanks so much for sharing it with us here. I still have tears in my eyes, that was beautiful. I know that is not the way it is here yet but it sure is the way it should be! I have never experienced a Gay Pride Holiday in person but I am sure it is a fabulous event. Terry

Robert,

Thanks for sharing that video. I sat in tears as I watched this episode. His mother played the role of a very special lady, one can only hope that this will help change viewpoints.

The cuff links were so symballical of what many of us have faced in our own lives....better stop... the tears are starting again.

The proposal episode was great too.

"I even love the things about you that I hate."

I've loved this show since it started. It treats the viewers like adults, the writing is great, and almost all of the characters are interesting. I thought they handled both the wedding and the other guy's parents quite nicely: No diatribes, no beating us over the head to make a point, but yet they made a very good point. Very classy.

Now I want to know what's going on with the "mystery child". That William Walker sure got around. Unfortunately, that was the season finale, so I will have to wait awhile.

I love that show...and I did get all verclempt when they were doing the wedding. They certainly covered what happens when one family doesnt approve of a gay child getting married or as I say "commited" to another. But that William Walker got around like a male cat looking for a female in heat. Gawd if he was my husband i would have nutted him a long time ago. And not in a good way. I feel for Nora I really do.

Ohmigosh

I just cried my way through the proposal episode.

This is my alltime favorite program although we're not that far along over here. I've got episode 212 sitting on the recorder waiting for me to watch this week.

Michael being the softy that he doesnt like to admit he is, will cry his way through this :)

Thanks for sharing that Robert...makes me think there might actually be hope. Sally Field and Calista Flockheart are such class acts...all the way!

Ohh this is all BULLSHIT!!!!!

Us queers know that this is bullshit, only happens in fairy tales, or on television, and not in real life. There are many many many, gay men out there hurting and suffering loneliness, cause the gay community of today, unfortunately, is uppity, stuck up shallow and EXTREMELY conceded, not to mention extremely high expectations, for what we should look like. That is why i say it's all BULLSHIT.. THE END!!!. I think alot of queers need to take a lesson from straight men, who are more than likely to love a woman for her qualities and not her looks, unlike the queers that will ONLY and i mean ONLY, talk to you if you are HOT and HUNG, and that is SAD. One of my friends committed suicide last year due to loneliness and rejection, and yes he was gay...

Relax and take a deep breath. While you do that, I will do my best to not be offended by your post.
You are way off base to say that the entire gay community of today is "uppity, stuck up, shallow and EXTREMELY conceded"
You are new to the washer club and I can tell you first hand that you will get to know ( if you allow), some of the finest gay men you will ever meet. Many gay members on this site have been in long term, functional and loving gay relationships, myself included. Yes, this is true!
Also, must you use the word queer? I have always viewed that word as derogatory and degrading towards our community. I understand and sympathize you lost a close friend, but to blame his suicide on the "stuck up,shallow gay community seems a bit far fetched to me.
So give this club and the fine members, Gay and Straight a chance. You will be glad you did.

ohh and Robert..

I couldn't agree more with your take on "Brothers & Sisters". Great show!!
This is a positive step towards equality for all in the GLBT community. Bravo ABC!!

You are SO WRONG

17 years here, we work togeather, have a good life, enjoy our friends both straight and gay in the small town we live in. The local folks are always inviting us to some event in the life of their straight family and take great interest in us. Our gay friends always have some event going on even if it just to celebrate getting the backyard garden planted.

Learn to live in Cleveland Tenn. or move someplace you can but I am guessing a geographic cure is not the answer. I feel sorry for you. Life will go on with or without you. The world is at your door you just have to learn to see it. I wish you well and hope you can get past your negative view.

The gay community has its stuck up, uppity, shallow, conceited members. So does the straight community. The gay community has its absolute gems, as does the straight community.

Happily ever after does happen - my partner and I are 21 years together. At times we say "21 years - you get less for murder" but we still love each other dearly.

You may have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.

One of the first rules of movies and TV is that no one wants to watch stories about people who look like them. If I want to see a pasty, slightly paunchy middle-aged white guy, I'll look in the mirror ;-)

It's the same principle that gave us the apartment on "Friends" that is about five times the size of the average NYC two bedroom unit.

As far as shallow homos go, I've traveled in that circle, but I never let that crowd define me.

Does anyone remember Luke MacFarlane as a soldier in FX's short-lived Iraq war series "Over There"? He was great on that show.

I also think it's cool that Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig (remember "Thirtysomething"?) work together again. Plus, Wettig looks like Beth Gibbons from Portishead (except with blonde hair).
