Canned Hams
Will, by teardrop, are you referring to the "Canned Hams"? Some of the home builts were almost indistinguishable from the factory models. Popular Mechanics Magazine had great plans 'in the day.'

And I really like vintage trailers. They show up for sale once in a while. The Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A. had a great show a few years back called "Vacationland." Really fun stuff there.
We have returned to tenting it ever since our fun but money-pit motorhome finally blew its engine a few years ago. At least it stopped the financial hemorraging. We haven't ruled out a scaled down RV of some sort in the future though.

I guess they are "Canned Hams." We always called them teardrops trailers when I was growing up. I just assumed it was the name. Thanks for the clarification!

Will, in all fairness, the term teardrop is also a legitimate term. While, this is only surmise, I think teardrop refers to the smaller trailers, more of which were home built. But you were on the right track and I know little, just happened to have a book on the old trailers and it is such a delight to look at the history - lots of pics.
