Today on another scavanger hunt, look what I brought home for a buck!

I am still clueless as to WHY???????????????????????? How can folks be so nasty!

There was a Kenmore Frog eye dryer there. Should I get it? Very nice shape and has a new element in it. The owner of the place where I found the filthy lint filter missed the washer by 2 minutes. OH S..T.

GASP!

Whoa Steve!

That one is pretty gross too! What's the deal with people? Did someone not tell them that the lint filter is removeable and should be cleaned on occasion?

Did you say FROG EYE? VERY NICE SHAPE? Get it! IMHO, those are the most adorable Kenmores out there! Of course, you know.....where there is a dryer, one may eventually find a washer! ;-)

Go already!!!!

unclean lint filter

I had a friend, now deceased, who prided himself in his laundry techniques. Whitest whites, brilliant colors, and so forth. On day, while chatting on the phone, I asked him how often he cleaned the lint filter on his several years old Maytag Fabri-Matic. His response: "Lint filter? What lint filter?" Needless to say, he got a mini-lecture from me about the need to clean ALL filters and to read instruction manuals. Later, we laughed a lot about that.....

Lint filters

I think the problem is people not reading about the lint filters, and that of all the lint filters, Maytag's seem to have the most "hidden" ones. With the exception of KM "Magic Clean" filters, which are generally boldly touted on the control panel, the lint filters on most machines that had them would be pretty much in sight and obvious. So I'm not at all surprised at these "gross" discoveries.

It's Clean Now

One day later, it dosen't look too bad.

It took an hour to clean.

Venus, I wonder myself. I do see everyone's point about it being hidden, but perhaps I/we are more observant than others. Everyone is different ya know!

Re: Gross Clean-Up:

Hey! Steve, what a great clean-up that you did on the Agitator and Lint Filter Assembly. What a difference "Before" and "After" makes. I've had some Friends that had these Maytag Washers in the past and I would ask them quite often if they cleaned out the Lint Filter. They would say back to me:

"Do You Think I Want My Butt Chewed By You For Not Cleaning It?"

Whenever I would go over to visit, this one Friend especially, I would at one time or another go out where the Washer and Dryer were and they would see me heading that way and once in a while I would hear "Oh! S--T I forgot to clean the Lint out of the Filter" and he's going to catch me at not doing it. They would also tell me that they just finished doing Laundry and just hadn't had time to clean the Lint out of the Filter yet.

It is I have to admit for that reason too bad that Maytag did make the Lint Filters as they did, but the idea of being out of the way, for loading and unloading the Laundry was their idea behind how they created that style of Lint Filter.

Peace and Happy Maytag Lint Filters and Washing, Steve

Lint filter placement

True, but they could've used the KM/WP "waterfall" style that was obvious, yet out of the way for loadiing/unloadiing

Ii do remeber Consumer Reports reviews of washers that used agitator mounted lint filters and how it impeded loading and unloading. They also used to mention the D shaped opening on KM/WP machines as being an impediment, too.
