My Mom needs to replace her 20 year old Caloric oven. This is one of those ovens that had a small gas oven on the top, a gas cooktop with 4 burners, and an oven below, all in one slide-in unit. Not unlike a Skinny Mini. I realize they don't make this style anymore, so we will have to find a conventional oven and put an undercounter microwave in as well. The burning question is what is a good brand? My wife and I have a Magic Chef which is about 4 years old and we are happy with that, but is there anything better without going over the top? Advice will be appreciated.

BOSH!!!

i purchased a bosch convection oven, about 2 years ago.. i was in the same position as you, replacing a slide in.. I have to say, not only does this oven, stove work terrific, the lines of the oven are just beautiful. sleek, classic- simply a good looking stove...i have had people visit, and impressed with it, they replaced their oven, with this bosh.. not very expensive.. around 800 or so.. and the convection works like a charm.. take a look at them.. im real happy with mine.. good luck..

Since JoeEkaitis isn't here right now:

HOTPOINT.

GOOD.CHEAP.RANGES.

The gas ones are excellent, and so are the electrics, if you like that sort of thing.

In the previous two apartments, I had new electric Hotpoints with self cleaning ovens, and they were very good.

We have a Kenmore electric set here with a Kenmore Microwave suspended above it.
It really works good. The oven is dead on with its accuracy and doesn't waver at all. But I think they are actually Whirlpools.
