Wow, frost free in 1952. Does anybody know what make/year of the first frost free refrigerator?

If it is like my grandmother's it has "flash-defrost" where hot refrigerant (upon your pushing of a button) gas goes through the evaporator (freezer) and defrosts it all quickly.

Then take the collecting water from the tray under the freezer and pipe it down to another tray warmed by the compressor and I think we have covered all the above claims!

It is frost free.......a feature Westiunghouse introduced in

The way it is done is as follows There is a chrome knob on the top part of the door frame and a button right above the freezer compartment next to the cold control. When the fridge door is shut the knob depresses the button. After this happens sixty times the button activates a heater that does the defrosting....that is according to a 1954 Wewstinghouse Fridge Manual I have. FYI the fridge in the manual I have is the same one that is in Lucy Ricardos kitchen when they move into the Benson apartment after Little Ricky is born...and that model has the electric door latch too...PAT COFFEY

I Love Lucy and sheloves me.We're as happy as two can be

The refrigerator was on "I Love lucy for a long time. The only "freezer"they had was a walk in they got from Ethel's uncle Arthur.

Betty Loved Them Too

I bet Betty Furness looked lovely while standing next to these Westy food keepers on "Studio One" and other shows. No wonder she was more popular than Adali and Ike at the '52 conventions (which Westinghouse sponsored on CBS). I mean, really. Who would you rather have as a running mate--Nixon or Betty?!
