Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear of your experience with your Hotpoint, I know they're stylish machines but not the most reliable as we all know. I had an Aquarius Extra WMA34P, It was a good machine but the bearings failed and made a loud rumbling noise during the spin. Has bearing failure occured in your machine?

I know it's hard putting up with a faulty machine but I'm sure you can get a better one soon.

German brands like Bosch and Miele are good for reliability and are better made than the Hotpoint. I think you should go for 1 of those next time, my Miele is a wonderful machine, they're not cheap but they are classy and very solid in terms of build quality. Go on, get 1, you'll soon be impressed by them.

Just a little bit of advice from me.

Alan...

I second that.

Hotpoint_42: I had the later model of your machine and I had no end of bother with it as well. I stand by the fact that with some things you get "built in obsolence!". Anyhow, when looking for a new machine, I don't think you can really go wrong with a Miele, whatever the model, theyre robust, have really good warranties and last for donkeys.

If style and chic is a concern and you're not altogether sold on the Miele classic design then the modern ones like I have (see pic) add a little lift to it.

welcome Hotpoint_42!
I used to have a WMA64, which died of bearing failure within a year when hotpoint was having to replace just about every single unit from the first wma range, they replaced it with an upgrade an ultima extra which gave me a 1600rpm as opposed to the 1400 i had previously.

Both machines were very very good and the only thing wrong with them was the bearings. Why dont i have it now? Well my dads a builder and built our new house with the kitchen kitted out with AEG appliances, the TDL dryer we had that matched the WMA died previously, so i asked if we could get an aeg, then i thought it'd be daft keeping the hotpoint washer and have all these new aeg appliances, so long and short of it was i managed to blag an AEG washer out of the situation:D I would've happily kept the WMA though!

I have to wonder, if you call them out one more time they may replace the unit. I used to work for comet up until january. They were fairly good for replacing things after repeat repairs.

Best of luck.

Darren

Thanks guys

i have been looking at the miele website for a while now, they are very good machines, i am thinking of getting one. the guarantee ends the back end of next year, but i was spending lots of money making trips to the laundry every week. i did buy a hotpoint wm79, this machine is in the celler as i new that the wma56 would not be fixed and it saves me a bit of money by taking my clothes to the laundry. so do u guys think comet will replace the machine, the machine is still working at the moment, when i switch it on it fills then agitates for about 10 mins then goes to the rineses. i guess its better then the machine having no power wat so ever. shall i demand a new washing machine or a refund? lol

I take it that Comet supplied the extended warranty? In that case, go back to Comet and complain again and again, until the machine is (a) put right, or (b) they can supply a machine that works.

If the extended warranty was supplied by a third party (eg 'Domestic & General) try communicating with them, stating the facts of the matter.

There was a consumer programme on BBC1 yesterday morning, about a woman whose Hotpoint machine was no end of trouble (7 years old), but she had religiously paid for the extended warranty, year after year. The machine chewed clothes, left oil marks on items. She had the machine attended to, eight times over a few months.

The upshot was that Indesit (Hotpoint's repairers) were quite happy to bill Domestic & General for the work carried out. The engineers failed to provide a report to Domestic & General about the unreliable machine. Had they done so, that machine would have been written off.

When the BBC became involved, the political wheels suddenly turned freely, and the woman ended up with a brand new (Hotpoint) machine, as well as compensation for the damaged clothes.

Good old BBC!

Hi - welcome to the site! Hope you'll enjoy it here, I don't post as much as I should but it's always a nice and welcoming place to come to, met plenty of friends on here!

Those Hotpoint washers were being sold when I had my first job working in an appliance centre, those doors were so bizarrely shaped compared to the WMA30 and WMA40 machines, very funky though.

If you're looking for a good machine, I can't recommend anything other than Miele. Been using them for over 2 years now and not one single complaint so far... fingers crossed, but by now with all other machines we've had problems have begun to set in but the Miele just churns through day after day :-). Recently got a Miele T284 dryer to replace an excuse of a modern Hotpoint dryer, can't beat it either - fast, efficient, and very quiet.

thanks rolls rapide. yes the warranty is with comet, tomoro (thursday)there is a engineer coming to look at the machine, i dont no if he is comming to repair it or just look. i rang hotpoint so much i think they moved my name forward to the top of the list, i dont really no wat to say to him to be honest, in the past engineers come, and order the parts needed then return a couple of weeks later but i am sick of that, the machine has no power now wat so ever, i decied to take a look for my self inside the machine and i noticed that the control bord had some burn / black parts on it, the machine has had 4 controls bords now. i think i watched the program that you are on about was it called DONT GET DONE GET DOM, i was surprized when she recived the new hotpoint ultima i would not mind one of those at all, even tho they are crap.

the repair man came this morning and fitted a new control bord, he put the machine back together and tested the machine on the fast spin cycle, (anti clockwise should be clockwise) the washer whent right up to 1300 RPM and the biggest ever bang came from the washer and a bright blue light, the washer man shit his pants and said this machine is not worth repairing, so i am going to recive a letter in 4-5 working days telling me when they will be comming to collect the washing machine, i have a feeling that comet will not provide me with a new machine i think it will be credit notes, so i am looking for a brand new machine.

Miele Appliances are the best I’ve ever used, im only 22yrs old and already own 4 Miele appliances (Washing Machine, Condenser Dryer, Dishwasher, Vacuum cleaner) they all fantastic and when it comes to the time of replacing them I will once again go for Miele (once you do Miele there is no going back). Me and my partner once we moved out in to our apartment we bought a top end Hotpoint (baring in mind my mother had her Hotpoint ultima 9 years and ever had a spanner on it and it still does a nice wash today :-)) thought it was a solid brand. How far wrong could I be had the machine 6 months and I had the following replacement parts fitted

· 2 door seals
· 1 motor
· 1 pump
· 2 bearings
· Suspension arms
I decided to pay out more money up front (You Pay for what you get) but I cannot recommend Miele enough there built very well, they run sweet and over all a far better machines then the brands out on the market. I’ve had my Miele appliances now for just ever a year and a half and there still as fantastic as they day I bought them!

Once really please consumer

Im looking for a miele

hey all, i have about £800.00 to spend wat good miele could i buy with this cash, i want 6KG and really want a 1600RPM i like (love) the look of the traditional classic machines, i hate the look on the W1000 range with the massive doors, so could you guys help me fine the right machine lolz.
thanks

Hey, our W3922 was £833 on we-sell-it.co.uk - packed with features and is a great machine. I would recommend it, bearing in mind it is only a little bit of a price step from the 3824. Plus it has the silent professional motor whilst the 3824 doesn't, plus more special programmes - though not necessary for an extra £30 or £40 over the 3824 the 3922 is definitely worth it :-).

Jon

Thanks guys

i have just been looking at the miele website, the 10year free parts and labour ends the 29th of july, so miele always put these promotions on there products. comet are giving me the money back from my hotpoint WMA51, i am still waiting on the letter that they are supposed to be sending i just hope it comes before 29th july lol, im hoping to add about £300 to £400 to the cash comet give me back, as i dont have much cash on me at the moment, jon, would it not be better to purchase a W4144WPS insted of a W3922, wat do u think? i like the contols on the W3923 stainless steel machine, dont miele make them type on controls on a white machine has it would be cheaper to buy a white one lolz.
