Suds-Saver - Washing machine function where water was pumped into a sink or large vessel, then "sucked" back into the washer for reuse in another wash cycle. Very popular for use to save water in areas where water was dear.
Suds Return - Would be the hose and parts needed for the washing machine to take in the water from above.
Beauty of a suds-saving machine is that while the water was sitting in the sink/vessel the dirt and muck settled to the bottom. When engaged the suds return on some models would leave an inch or so of said water in the sink so the mucky water would'nt be left and mostly clean water reused.
Oh yes, suds saving washing machines were the reason for many of the two tub sinks commonly found in older home's laundry rooms/areas. One sink would hold the water to be reused, and the other was for the water which was not going to be reused.
Today most homes simply have a standpipe for draining washing machines.
