Hoarding Celebrated in Wired Magazine article

Jim Golden photographs vintage items - in photographs. I wonder if he needs to be suspended over the warehouses of some of the collectors here to get theirs shown like the following ? Hope you enjoy the photos:

Hoarding CELEBRATED?

I'll take oath that whoever wrote such an article never had to deal with the so-called "estate" of a hoarder.

(HINT: They tend to die without leaving enough money to deal with the mess, meaning relatives and friends get to work their asses off - and spend their own money - putting things to rights. The disposal of the effects of the last hoarder I dealt with cost me nine thousand dollars)

I refer to true hoarding, where objects accumulated have no value to anyone but the hoarder - you can find such goodies as several thousand plastic margarine tubs, as happened with my maternal grandmother. Collections of appliance parts, etc. are not usually true hoarding.

I was trying to find a place for this article, and it wasn't appropriate for Shopper's Square. It was nothing about hoarding, per se - but a very interesting article about a photographe(Jim Golden) and his photographs. He didn't collect to get the photos, but thanks to collectors, hoarders(?) and so on - he is able to photograph, in his style, a slew of vintage items, typically themed. Check it out if you'd like:

I immediately wondered if he has approached the idea of photographing the many kitchen and laundry appliances that aw.org members own. A drone and camera would make the warehouse full of washers and dryers photographable, but they couldn't be arranged as the cameras he photographed, unless you tipped them on their backs. NOT going happen, I know, I know. But it would make a great photograph.

So this isn't a shopper's square post and I couldn't decide where to stick it (sorry) - and deleted it.

This was a very interesting find, Phil, thanks for posting it!

 

Beautiful photographs, he has a good eye for grouping objects together that keep the eye moving and the brain engaged.
