Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Mother of God, that's a doozie! Waterfall furniture, carnival glass, and I wonder if that Eureka is actually in the box? Somebody better check this one out!

Please No One Take Offence

But the "estate sale Marys" are going to be all over this one.

Much of the stuff shown is right out of the 1940's and before, quite allot of it in decent enough condition as well.

It looks as if the Roper range and Maytag washer along with those industrial tools are in some sort of "farm house" or perhaps shed/garage type structure. Then again it could be a cellar or basement but one wonders how anyone got that stove down any flight of stairs.

Hmmm, Saddle Brook is actually closer than Ridgewood! *LOL* It's all Bergen county anyway.

My guess is that is how whomever took the pictures "staged" things. As it looks rather clean maybe the washer was off in corner or elsehwere on the property and moved about to get a clearer shot.

Then again considering so much of the vintage items at this estate sale mayhaps the previous owner was using the thing right up until her or his demise.

I Love!

This kind of sale, We went to one last summer where the house had been closed up for over 25 years...I came away with both vacuums the lady had ...A 541 Hoover with all attachments and a Electrolux E with the box!!

The aluminum hook on the Maytag hose looks so minty; the whole machine, in fact, looks pretty good. Maybe, she got tired of wringing quickly and moved up to the Easy which looks well used AND mistreated--where are the washer police?

This is in my town!

I live in Saddle Brook, so this could be literally seconds from my own door lol. Now how to get time off of work lol.

MisterEric & Yogitunes - Want to go to this? I may have my replacement Easy here lol. Plus IF I do decide on that Maytag, that would be my first wringer washer.

Hey Mike! I thought you were the washer police! LOL
You're only about 7 hrs away and I'm about 8 hrs.
Why don't we just meet there and shop til we drop?
Like Hans, I love these kind of sales too.

Oh Am So Interested In This Sale

Maybe need to borrow Violet's Mercedes and take a trip across the GWB.

@brianl - Had no idea you rolled with Big Money, living in Saddle Brook!*LOL* Will have to invite you to one of my candlelight suppers! *LOL*

Several new pictures have been uploaded and that estate is a gold mine of vintage items for the right person/collector. There is a lovely infant's crib and "mammie" rag doll.

More pictures but must say some things simply don't "fit" the rest of the house. The company does promise to keep trying to sell remaining items even after a sale is over so perhaps these items and or pictures are leftovers.

Drag? Drag???

Bruce is actually wearing a tan knitted two-piece. Violet rang to ask if one had an extra girdle lying about spare as her husband has a bit of a paunch. Totally resented the idea that she assumed *I* would require much less own such a garment!

It's A Trap! It's A Trap!

Don't fall for it guys. BrianL just wants to get the competition into his lair and then you all will end up like Blanche in "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?"

*LOL*

L.
Ducking but not running, more like a slow retreat but covering my flank!*LOL*

Well....

as luck would have it will be in Philadelphia area on Sunday morning. Helping a friend of mine move some furniture from here to there. Ironically its from an estate sale here a couple of weeks ago.

Should have time to get to the sale before it ends. Hope Brian hasn't snatched it all up by then!

The Easy is also from the mid-sixties. You can tell by the enlarged lettering in the logo. Before that, the letters were shorter and wider.

With two classic gems like that, a TOL Easy Spin and a Maytag Cadillac, maybe they were washer people, just like us. Wouldn't that be cool!

Fader Grandeur

That is what comes to mind looking at those photographs of items for sale.

Yes, the former owner or owners of that home were elderly. You can tell from the B&W pictures of Armed Forces members in boxes along with other family snaps. Also simply by looking at the stuff. The Koolerator, wringer washer, Easy Spindrier, vintage radio and television and so forth all point to someone or persons who started keeping house around the 1940's or 1950's. Judging from that Roper range maybe even before that.

Does not look like their days ended happily as you can see the potty chair/walker in one snap. Also from the state of the place it obviously had not been kept up. Often elderly persons living in these "wealthy" New Jersey suburbs are house poor. Many of these "bedroom" areas became hot areas to settle in after the George Washington Bridge was built, and increasingly as more persons fled NYC for Jersey after the War and on into the 1950's (white flight). Over the years assesements on the property goes up but many seniors income does not.

Judging from the hat boxes and costume jewels the lady of the house had good taste.

Don't think they had two laundry rooms. Just as each machine either died or was replaced it was moved into storage. The kitchen has a modern new range so am going to guess there is a "new" washer and dryer somewhere.

One thing that really makes one sad is the absence of any infant/children's items speaks that perhaps there weren't any wee ones.

Hey Laundress...

Funny what you posted yesterday, I would never lol. I hear what you are saying on your last post, I knew a few like that. The housing prices go up, but the incomes do not. Money is tight with us as well. I think the average income is around 60k or more perhaps. We happened to luck out, but are house is less than 1500 sq ft, and built with sheet rock on cement. Makes for a warm house in summer and a cold house in winter. Virtually no insulation. Since our bills are higher, I wonder what a senior might have to go through on a fixed income like that.

Back to washers, I really would love to have that Easy, as I need to give Eric's back to him eventually lol, but I'm not sure about the wringer. Maybe if the price is right on it, unless someone else wants.

Seriously though, any members in the area, I would love to get to meet new people and show them my collection and maybe make a little day of it.
