This recipe came to America with my great-great grandmother, Wilhelmine Scharbius, when she immigrated from Pommerania in the mid 1800's.
Christmas Honey Cookies
Cream:
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
Stir in:
1 cup honey
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 2 tbsp. water
Mix in:
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cardamom
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (enough flour to roll out nicely)
Let stand overnight. Roll out very thin. Cut out and top with slivered almonds. Bake 8-10 minutes @ 350 degrees. (They burn easily)
