It was brought to my attention (Chuck) that the title I used was probably not the best to let people we were talking about an actual gathering, so here's the information with what is hopefully a better subject title!

***************************************************************************

We didn't get to have a summer get-together this past year, so let's be sure to have a holiday get-together! Here it is:

Saturday, January 4th from 1PM until whenever
Southborough MA- 65 Marlboro Rd
Pot luck finger food
BYOB and we'll have some wines, mulled cider, egg nog, coffee/tea

Yankee Swap for anyone who wants to participate. If you haven't done this, it's both fun and funny! Each person who wants to participate brings a wrapped gift. We draw numbers to see who's first and that person opens a gift they choose from the lot. The second person opens a gift they choose and can swap for the first person's gift. This continues and each new gift opened can be swapped for any of the already opened gifts. After the last person makes their choice, the first person makes the final choice from all gifts opened.

Please be sure to reply to let people know you're coming!!! There is limited stay-over space available here, and a "Toggle-Approved" Motel 6 down the road!

So, who's up for it???

Oh Martin,

What are you proposing? A pant-less polar pool plunge? If you can get under the pool cover (and still get out) go for it!

:-)

Chuck

Pool antics aside (not saying anything about Twister), who else is in?

along with the 2 evil-doers who lured me into....

Care to let us in on who that might be??? :-)

"So what's on the menu?"

Hey Scott- Haven't heard from anyone as far as what they're bringing, but it's always good! I'll probably make hummus as a start. Maybe sliced sausage in a sauce to eat with frilly little toothpicks? Don't know what Rich has up his sleeve yet.

Brian- all set!

And who's in for Yankee Swap? A local couple we know will be coming and one of them asked if we were going to do it.

See ya soon!

For anyone looking at the snow coming in this week, so far it looks like it'll all fall before Friday daytime is out. They do a great job plowing all the main roads around here, and we're right on a secondary highway, so that's even better! Shouldn't be any issues at all. However, we'll be sure to update as it gets closer!

Oh, for those keeping score of the food, we'll be putting out a relish tray as well!

Chuck

The truck shown uses what I beleive is the "Rapid Rail" arm system. The trucks reciprocating ram compactor operates continuously unless the driver stops it.The trash must have frozen or somehow stuck to the wheelie bin-and came loose as the arm went down. Some of those automatic trucks have what is called a "pendulum packer"The packer head swings back and forth in the hopper compacting trash as the bin dumps it in the hopper. The pendulum packers are sort of neat to watch.Someone filmed one on the "Classic Refuse Trucks" site.

Almost looks like the full truck kept the lid in place until it was flung back. Either way, can you say "operator error?"

Sorry we won't see you, Larry! Look like the snow will be out of here by tomorrow afternoon which means they'll have everything cleaned up in plenty of time. Unfortunately, in your job, it's gonna cause a major logjam and you'll be stuck working with it. :-(

Chuck

yep, working the district and the got us working in the cold, cold streets without shelter for 12 hours.
I don't understand this city when it comes to snow removal. 12* at this hour and manually shoveling snow before it ends. Stupid!

Sorry guys

I REALLY wanted to be there but there's no way I can get out of my driveway now. The road I live on hasn't even been plowed yet. I'm so disappointed but I hope everyone has a good time!
