My latest liquor-filled-Bundt® Cake & a small folly:

Stirred the vegetable oil into the cake mix, about 4-min. into the baking time w/ 46-minutes left... --After realizing that the measuring cup tasted like watered down Jim Bean Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon Whiskey, and wasn't all filmy & bland w/ Wesson Oil...!

Peeked at it to see it rising normally--also panicky that I'm hurrying things a little, watching the time...! Result?

(Am I not infallible? --Keeping my fingers crossed...)

You're not alone.  I've occasionally  forgotten things like adding yeast or salt to bread dough or an ingredient in stew, particularly when I'm doing it in the pressure cooker an it's up to pressure. Thing is I usually have all the ingredients out before I start and lined up in order and then that happens.

Who hasn't forgotten something in a recipe

So I try to practice what Chef Ann Burrell Preaches:

Mise en place, Mise en place, Mise en place.

It's at least helpful to have everything all measured out makes it more difficult for me to forget to put it in if I see it on the counter.
