Hello!
I found your site in the hopes you may help me find a replacement heating element for an old oven. I'm trying to keep my wife happy and my budget in check. If I can get another 60 years from this thing it will be in the Smithsonian!....or a scrapyard....
Thanks in advance.

Provide the details of your oven, brand and model number, so replies can be specific. Photos are also helpful.

Frigidaire 5309950886 Bake Element. Frigidaire stove, Model RCD-G39-63 with lower heating element 7524691, 250v 2700w. I'm looking to replace.

From what I could find on line, it appears you have a Frigidaire Flair stove. The bake element can be made to order if you can't readily find one through an appliance parts retailer. My nearby independent appliance parts store has sent out failed elements for me in the past to have a new exact copy made, and turnaround time was a couple of days. You may want to inquire about this service, but I would wager that only an independent operation will offer it.

You have a 1963 Custom Deluxe 30" free standing range. Before you go crazy trying to locate the element, check the clock to be sure that it's set to "MAN". If not, the oven won't work. Many Frigidaire ranges have been scrapped for this reason. Also, clean the plug terminals with some steel wool. Other issues to check are burnt-off wire terminals on the thermostat or clock. Frigidaire famously had crappy crimp terminals.

Even if the clock is set properly for manual operation, the clock switch sometimes fails on these Frigidaire ranges, the key is when you turn the oven on to say 350 the indicator light on the control panel should come on showing that it’s heating if that light is coming on Then the clock is set correctly if it’s not coming on, there’s an electrical problem.

I know a lot of us are second-guessing and you probably know you need a new bank element, if the elements bad the broiler should still get warm during an operation in the oven. Should get up to a much lower temperature and not bake evenly. If nothing is heating then it’s more of an electrical problem with wiring, thermostat, etc..

My wife turned the oven on, after a few minutes she saw a flash then the bottom element went from orange to black. The top element was still on (orange). After it cooled I removed the lower element and checked for voltage, 240v, good. I have no complaints, it's 60 years old and holds temp within 2-6 degrees of what it's set.
I'll start asking around to see if anyone around here can make one, (I'm in Cleveland Oh). If it needs replaced this will cost me a new stove AND refrigerator. They don't make them like they used to.
