thanks for that I remember a very short vid of this on Jacks site on youtube and being frustrated by how short it was.

Depsite my attempts last weekend i still havent managed to get a complete video of it (there was so much going on)

There is something magical (to me) about these machines i cannot tell you what that is, but when ever that keyplate goes in and you hear the programmer clicking and whirring it is music to my ears.

Glad you enjoyed Mathews Keymatic, its a well travelled washer!!! lovely clunks n clicks, such a special machines!!!

Heres the insides all shined up!!!the tub is suspended fron the 4 springs and the counter weights are actually concrete filled blocks bolted onto the casing (top sides) not the drum!!!

here they are together, with Mathew putting them through their paces!!!those poor stripy transport sheets must be nearly thread bare with all the washing they get!! Lol.... the nearest to a matching pair of the time!!!

Special Machines

Yes indeed very special machines

I was thinking about the weights and the wide body........maybe by widening the foot print of the machine (widebody) this helps keep things under control when the machine kicks into spin, because if it is not balanced when starting a spin, with the initial violent movement of the tub, the wide footprint helps contain the movement of the body of the machine until the suspension and damper units can take over...........argh my brain hurts now having thought that one through.

It is an amzing peice of engineering inside......the cast cradle for the bearings and motor and the tub design make me think of german machines, the later designs with tub springs on the bottom and cast rear plate must have been a radical design change at the time.

keymatic with impeller. Need somme help again!

I progress in repairing the keymatic...
Thank you for the information on water levels and documentation. So I repaired the hoses, but in trying to operate, there is a leak at the impeller with water splashing when it turns. My questions are:
Can we still find a gasket and where?
Otherwise, how to disassemble (from inside the drum or rear?)
Have you a diagram with the parts?
In advance thank you for your help and sorry if my English is not great.
anyway I promise you that when the machine will completed I will make pictures.

Bert you English is great, no problems understanding, Is the leak coming through the back of the drum where the impeller is??

sound like the shim & seal have gone, does it make a squeal when turning...Does the machine spin okay??

Hi again and thank you very much for your reply.
Yes, the leak is coming through the back of the drum and there is no particular like. But there is a leak when the water reaches the bottom of the impeller, even when it does not rotate.
In fact, I dare not remove impeller because I am not sure of being able to assemble properly afterwards. Moreover, disassembly seems very complicated, and if the seal is wrong, how to repair because it is certain that this seal can not be bought anywhere! What do you think?
Otherwise, I tested the program spin: the timer and spin are ok. The valve also works but I do not know if the machine automatically stops the water because I have also put a seal between the door and opening
