Hi everyone,
I acquired this Hoover 460 a while ago and noticed it’s had some sort of repairs done incorrectly on it.
I have photos of it and I’ll name the issues
1. Door doesn’t lock, meaning operation of the machine can be done with the door open.
2. The spin and wash options aren’t hooked up properly meaning they can’t be used correctly.
3. This might just be how the machine was made but if the timer is set to the middle of spin it doesn’t do a slow spin the ramp up, it just goes full speed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not certain but I don't think that timer is from a 460. It looks like a 470 timer.

My understanding is the 460 used a rather bulky European timer (Crouzet maybe??) and the later machines used a cheaper Australian made timer, which is much more slender in shape, your photo looks like the later ones. It is possible that late 460s had the later timer, I really don't know for sure.

But maybe your machine has been made up out of several machines, including timer and wiring loom from a 470?? It's pretty common to mix and match components with these Zodiac machines.

I figured it had been mismatched

I would still think it would be similar enough for the door lock and switches to be hooked up correctly unless I’m thinking wrong.

Thanks for your advice though! I might need to source some parts then.

Door lock had one neutral wire connected to it somewhere

It wasn’t hooked up at all, and had one cable going to it!

The machine was removed from a deceased estate (not by me, it was in someone’s front yard for a few days and I asked them about it, so yes, it was free).

I’m super thankful for your advice Gizmo

Without your advice I wouldn’t have a clue with what I’m doing!!!

Perhaps if I can’t get this running you could take it off my hands if you wanted!

It does need new bearings and the door seal has a crack in it also missing 2 wheels on the front and a few other things but it’s mostly there!
