So here we are, saturday morning Paul and myself do the usual round of charity shop searches in Crewe hoping to find something but not hoping to find anything when Paul spots this beaut!

Paul will explain where it lies in the line up but Id thought we'd struck gold fiinding the 800rpm version of the A3060. Darn Hoover model numbers - no such luck, but it is special in its own way.

As far as I know this is the only one in the hands of a collector here, One was on ebay 3 years ago but sold to Revooh hooever that is! lololol

Anyway like most Vintage Hoover machines it was a MINGER.................

Hoover Electronic

Nice find there, this is the model that next door but one neighbour Mary had (previous was grey Hoover Twosome) , this washer was taken away in the back of the van to be repaired, I thought at the time that was cheap and awfully bad service as the Servis Repairman always repaired ours in the home...Lol....its only when you come to work on machines in a tight cramped space with limited tools that you understand it would have been far better being repaired in a fully fitted workshop etc...

Now get it water tested and sheen shined AND please break it in gently, please use the Vintage Test Cycle which is Programme E for ELONGIVITY........AND NOT B for BOIL....

;-)

Great find there Guys. Rob it sure looks like it should be the 800 version of the A3060 although looking at the brochure recently listed on Ebay that was the Matchboxish style A3090.

Whats the date on this one?

Hi guys.

Thanks for the comments, on very much initially a teaser thread. Will supply some more pictures in a bit.

Mike - Unfortunately our A3058 doesnt have the 'Vintage Test Cycle', so it would have been a full 95deg first cycle - had it not wee'd on the floor!

I am relaxed about paying £40quid for something that turned out not to work though (not been having much luck recently, to say the least).
Had it appeared on ebay and been described as 'leaking' or 'holed drum', I would still have happily paid £20 to £30 quid for it and then had to fork out for the fuel as well. Putting things into perspective, I dont hold its £40 quid cost against it.

Especially as it cleaned up rather well, though the facia from certain angles is festooned with blemishes.
Nowt is ever simple.

From the top - after a thorough clean...

The standard bodyshell, with cut outs to cater for every model - the oblong cut for the Keymatic light show...

A Hoover drum showing little or no drum twist! Just a shame the the nicely non-twisted drum has two small holes at the bottom!

Gary - a master class in liquid metal please!
Mathew - a master class in fibreglass layers please!

The back cleaned up nicely, with no condensed water streaks from the steam vent - not many hot washes here...

p.s the sticker on the back mentioning drum backplate!

The drum backplate looks very tidy and new - forgot to get a photo though.
When water was pumped into the machine, courtesy of a Hoovermatic T5054 by the sliding door, water appeared to be coming from where I had seen two rust spots as the machine was put into my car.

The impression both me and Rob get is that the backplate fitted is the 'new backplate' which was required when the sticker was attached.
Fingers crossed anyway.

Where does it fit?

within the 'Aluminium' series, which was on sale from circa January 1975 through to February 1978 and was replaced by the 'New Magic' A3060 series...
