Very Cool!

I hope we get them in our store very soon! If anyone can hold out, I'm sure I'll be able to get them for my appliance friends at a somewhat better price...

Hmm...

After looking it over, I don't think that the US version is Stainless Steel... That would be something they would want to advertise, I think.

The product description just says "Durable steel construction..." And the name of it is: "Constellation HEPA Vacuum - Pearl". Looking closely at the picture, it does look to be sort-or a pearl color. Maybe this will eventually come in a rainbow of colors like it's older brothers and sisters. Although stainless steel would have been cool! (And more expensive)

I am wondering...

If they've taken the time to advertise the *pearl* part that perhaps this machine may come in some other colors as well?
That would be so cool!

This is very cool, but there are a couple of questions that beg to be asked, one of which Jason alluded to: noise level, being it has a 12 amp motor, and I have to say I wonder how well it's going to do with the general buying public without a true power nozzle.

I always thought the Constellation was a wonderful work of modern art, and perhaps that factor alone will appeal to some. Very space-age, as we would have said back in the day. (LOL)

By the way

Before anyone asks yes that is my VERY nice 1010 Convertible behind the Senior(Thanks to Jeff for that).

And my Satellite cost me a lot less than the normal price I love Staff discount(i.e Cost price lol)

I approve

It's advertised to be steel constructed and it looks rugged like the originals so we'll see. Helen and I were going to get a $159 Kenmore vac so another $40 won't hurt if it goes towards my dream vacuum.

Maytag/Hoover Branding

Hey Scott

Hoover US and Hoover UK/Europe are 2 totally Seperate companies and havew been since about 1993.

Candy/Gias own the rights to the Hoover trade mark/logo in Europe and also the rights to the Constellation Trade mark over here.

Thats why ours has to be a Maytag Satellite- we have also had Maytag Windtunnels and currently have the Steamvac Agility branded Maytag.

Hope this helps see the link for the UK Hoover Site showing our current HOOVER lineup

Cheers
Seamus

Yes

Yes, currently Hoover is owned by Maytag which is owned by Whirlpool. Word has it that Hoover will be sold.
Who should buy Hoover? Some other reader voted for Scott & Fetzer's parent - a company known for quality. Don't recall the name. Personally, I sure hope it stays in the USA, I'd be crestfallen if it were purchased by some low-quality foreign entity. Personally, I vote for GE. They got out of the vacuum business many years ago. If Whirlpool can rescue Maytag, maybe GE should crack open that wallet and buy Hoover.

The Turbobrush question

Although air driven it is fantastic- better than Mieles one for example!!

Classic Connies were 580W overhere and (I think!!) 750W over there!

We still measure in Watts and our version is 2000W - thats 290 Airwatts- because of the voltage issue the US version cant be as powerful :(

Seasmusuk, that would explain why the Mieles over there are 1600 watts instead of 1100. How do you find your Satellite to be, noise-wise? My Constellation #86 says it has 750 watts.

Oh, and glad to hear the good report about the air nozzle. Actually, that might be handy for my flat pile area rugs. Are the other tools such as the dusting brush, decent, full sized varieties? (Some cleaners here these days have ridiculously small tools that almost look more like toothbrushes).
