Model 707, Promo Model

made 3/24/71 to 8/11/75, don't know how many were made. The colors are Spring Green and garland green, with light venetian gold.
I'd be glad to give it a home!

I love the Hoover Convertibles...we're using a (slightly modified, with replacement cord and large, top-fill, Type A bag assembly) 1970 Convertible 1020 as a "daily driver" and it's doing a great job, but I need to go eBaying for some nice originals to display!

Greg, great find, and Jeff, she's going to look beautiful in no time! How does she run?

Convertible

Pete,
That was a promo/sale model, it was used as a "hook" to lure people into the stores on the possibility they would buy UP.
I'd be happy to restore that cleaner and send it to you if you like.
Austin: Good choice for a daily machine, its my firm belief that there's nothing else that will clean your carpets as well as a Convertible will.

Hi Jeff, thanks for that generous offer. I'll hold off though rather than having you go to the hassles of shipping it here. One is bound to turn up here with my name attached. It's funny though that I find Kirbys,Fq's and Rainbows and the even rarer Watermatic, all of which had little market share compared to those Hoovers, They're out there. You know what it is.. I'm thinking about them whereas all the rest appeared when I wasn't looking so I'm putting them out of my mind.

Speaking of Filter Queens,,there's an old looking brown metal one sitting at the thrift store. I figure it's older because it doesn't have all the chrome accents etc but more resembles a plain small shop vac. Still has the hose but no wands or attachments.. any idea sight unseen how old it might be and if it's worth my $10. It does run

Pete I've lost count how many vacuums I have sent overseas to Australia and the UK.
Canada would be easy. I'd be no trouble at all.
Jeff

Oh yes, we've been through our fair share of "plastic" vacuums...a Eureka 6.5-amp Bravo TheBOSS, an Oreck pair...upright and minicanister, one of the early Kenmore Progressive uprights (which wasn't a bad vacuum except for the belt lifter that kept slipping...that was always in the Sears repair shop), Eureka Mighty Mite and EuroPro Shark compact canisters, and a Eureka (built for Wal-Mart) GE bagless upright. The last ones to go were the previous two, and that was last year. Only vintage machines and a wide-track Sanitaire occupy the two hall closets here.

The Convertible really does clean those rugs well (definitely better than the previous machines), and I just replaced the belt, changed the bag, checked the bearings, and gave it a good cleaning last week. I'm the only one who uses the rear-conversion accessories, and I rarely do that; an early-80's Simpson-Sears compact canister (identical to the Kenmore SPV or Super Power Vac) does the above-the-floor cleaning. It is constructed of plastic, but is surprisingly durable and very lightweight to boot...and yes, powerful! Pete, I'll get a picture of that one sometime so you can see what it looks like.
