Hoover dryer HNC 160 -80

Hi there i was wondering if any one can help my friend has a hoover condensor dryer and it has developed a fault, when you press the start button it goes but then stops when the buttoon relased it works if you wedge it in but this buzzes, its supposed to push in and out and start up. I have looked at spares and new sitch is 8 quid and a new pcb boaard 13 quid . Do you think i need just a switch or pcb or both?

oooh I am dying to awnser its a easy one. No I won't, I will resist, don't want to give advice on modern appliances.

sorry my advice would be contact your local engineer, most independents carry it on the van.

Id drop Mathew (Keymatic3203)a line with the problem. What he does not know aint worth knowing.

I know hes recently had his head in a Hoover Vision Dryer replacing the element that had blown and has come up with an ingenious way to solve the problem than using the crappy heaters Candy now fit.

Shame that the poster above has to act childish when a fellow member asks a question. Beggars belief that someone should join such a club yet rub someones nose in the fact they wont or cant help someone who is not sure about diagnosis but capable of doing a job themselves.
Never mind least he got his little kick so he can trot off to bed before mummy caught him sneaking about.

The only reason I dont give technical advice on modern apliances is because I do not know the original posters technical abilities, I dont want to be responsible for anyones death.
Besides I am sure you have already sorted it.

Hi thanks for the response i am plumping for the pcb as the switch is switching but something is not clicking on, its for a friend who is happy with the prices i quoted but i hate to waste other peoples money, thanks bertrum i appreciate you dont want me to kill myself , i will un plug the machine. I have been tinkering with old elec things for nearly 30 years, i used to dismantle things as a child and managed to re assemble them a little later! but any advice would be helpfull.

Wht are the retaining screws for the pcb put in the wrong way around?(you will know what i mean when you come to change it). well done for working it out.

sorry bertrum i dont understand the question i have not even looked at the machine yet or taken of its top , i only guessed on the pcb as its had one replaced a few years earlier

Hi Richard,
Ignore the previous post if it has had a previous pcb as the screws will now be in the way that provides easy access.
